"Movies format H.264 -720x400 pixel @ 30fps"

720x400 is 720P HD resolution.

Vimeo movies look much better in 720P resolution than in standard 480P resolution. It's worth the difference in my opinion.

720x400 (400 horizontal lines of resolution) is well below HD quality. For reference, NTSC Mini-DV output is 720x480, so the output from this camera would be slightly lower quality than that.

In comparison, 720P "HD" video = 720 horizontal lines of resolution. Typical resolution would be 1280x720, assuming a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Not wanting to pile on here, but 720x400 is less resoution than your uncle's Walmart video camera. 720 x 480 is standard Digital Video resolution. The 720 x 400 is less vertical lines, but that is probably the result of simulating a wide screen 16:9 aspect ratio by reducing the frame height.

There's nothing at all wrong with good standard resolution, of course. Just as Shaun said, the shorthand HD frame sizes are vertical lines of resolution - 720P is typically a 1024 x 720 frame.

Can anyone compare this to the ChaseCam? It looks basically the same, just with a smaller memory capacity limit (16gb vs 32gb) and without an external mic input?

Does anyone get anything out of the data overlay on video other than just a cool gizmo? I've never used it or felt like it would've helped me learn something.

I'm not a video guru and would never say that I had a good eye for things but side by side the video quality is about the same. I have a ChaseCam and will continue to run it slaved to a Traqmate with a SmartyCam slaved to the AIM system. Hopefully I'll get some seat time with them side by side soon and post them for comparisons.

For AIM users it can double as the GPS antenna as well.

Very cool, does this mean you wouldnt have to buy the add-on GPS setup for aim, or is the antenna just one part of that? (Aim newbie)

You don't need to buy the add-on antenna. The only issue that I've heard about would be with certain cars (carbon fiber roof) the GPS antenna receive the signal through it.
