Learned to do it in my 59 Saab (2 stroke) 3 speed off the column, 2nd gear syncros went at 195,000 miles so I double clutched the last 50K..

That's because you're not getting it into neutral, silly.

Yeah, but he does get them little racecars around pretty quick, for an old guy.

I know. That 6-5 downshift is a bear - trying to go down 6-5-4-3-2-N then back up N-2-3-4-5 and not lose the revs is just beyond my meager skill level. On top of that, I run out of fingers to count the gears in that deal and usually crash when I try to take my shoes off to finish the count.

Mine too so I just gave up on using the clutch at all. I found it really saves wear 'n tear on the clutch hydraulics.

Yup. Be on the lookout for a rickshaw drover wearing a Ferrari driving suit.

I used to double-clutch all the time, automatically. Then I looked down and realized I was only blipping a few years ago. Maybe I was getting ready for the sequential.

Never have...simple rev-match works for me. Unless, the gears are acting up and not engaging properly. Then yes, double-clutch and engage.

I learned in a 1970 Land Rover Type IIA. No trans problems...it came with no syncros in 1st and 2nd.
