Racing Seats Opinions

Sounds like you are on the right track. Of course try some in person, in showrooms, but as, or more importantly, some friendly racers' cars in the paddock at some event. Pay careful attention to the location of holes in the seat back for shoulder belts, relative to your shoulders and those of any other regular drivers. Some (all?) H&N restraints are somewhat sensitive to this.
Be open minded about sizing if you decide to go with a (likely less comfortable for the street) fixed seat. Years ago, someone told me I needed a Sparco EVO2 (large) because of my 35-36 inch waist. I sat in a normal EVO and it fit better, so I bought it. After one season it was too big, so I sold it and I bought a used Recaro SPG (smaller than a Pole Position). Then I bought a deeper (and still pretty narrow) seat, a Recaro Pro Racer. If I listened to "experts," no way was I going to fit in the Pro Racer. But I do. And I can still move around in it a little if I don't get everything right.
Good luck.

Thank you, I plan on trying out any seat before I buy it. Good stuff guys. It is also important that the seats go well with the car as I don't want the car to look like a race car on the street. I know the Pole Positions are mostly black, but I don't want red/blue/etc. in a dark green car.

Are these seats for a 914? Is there a large height difference between you and your wife (assuming she is going to drive)? Recaro Pole positions worked for us, but we needed a bit of custom work on the driver side slider. Didn't use one on the passenger side, just fixed the seat on the brackets to the floor.

Its important to know if you want a fixed back racing style seat or a reclining seat that allows access to the backseat area.....
If you want a reclining seat...the Recaro SRD's are very nice.....
If you want fixed seat, I am VERY happy with my Racetechs 4009 HRT

If you need accessibility, the Recaros are awesome. I never owned them, but knew a guy who did and they feel great, support well in all the right places, and equally important for your concerns is they adjust/fold forward. I personally don't know of any other seat that offers this kind of versatility for track/street.

Hey Jay,
I have two different Sparco seats in the S2(can't remember the models). Stop by and try them anytime you like. Or I can bring the car to the football game on Friday.

I am looking for seats also and I know I have sat in the corbeau's before. There were several that were quite comfortable and they are much cheaper than the other brands, but they don't feel cheaper. Does anyone know the real world quality/reliability of this brand? TIA

lol. Sorry, I was trying to provide an opinion on comfort and ask some questions we both might want answered. So in other words, kinda, but I didn't want you to notice. lol. Let us know what you find. I am gonna try to check out the corbeaus again this weekend and I'll let you know which ones I like the most. I am looking for the same thing as you pretty much. I'm on a budget, what about you?

IMO, Recaros are too expensive. Go with the equivalent Sparco and save a few hundred dollars.
The Evo is good for street driving because it doesn't have tall side/thigh bolsters which make it easier to get in and out.
