NCRC exhibition race results?
Dave, 171, Mooty?
Did you guys go to thunderhill this weekend? I couldnt make it, and I just did my last race there in 100+ temps. didnt need to go back and do that again.
How was it? (if you guys, or anyone else went)
Iceman says there were some very cool cars out there. Another ZR1 made it to the even and was pretty fast!

I was there racing on Saturday only. I qualified 7th with a 1:56.0 (over the top). The cars ahead of me were Trans Am Corvettes, NASCAR sort of big hp cars, a Formula Mazda, and a Radical. Behind me were more FM's, a Challenge Ferrari, etc.
In the 1st race all but one of the cars ahead of me either spun or had mechanical issues, so I got 2nd. That race was won by Ken Lowell in a black SP Monte Carlo #75.
The 2nd race was gridded based on the 1st race results, which put me 2nd. But the #75 chose to start at the back so I was on pole. I was able to pull a comfortable lead for a while, until the #75 caught me, passed, and pulled away. On the last lap I was reeled in by a Formula Mazda. As I came around T11 for the last time I saw the leader just getting going after spinning. I past him between 13 & 14 with the FM in tow. I was able to put a lapped car between us between 14 & 15 and thought I had it made. But the monster horsepower prevailed, and I watched helplessly as the big Monte Carlo roared past me on the final straight.
Now I'm looking forward to racing the Spec Miata 3 times this coming weekend at Infineon. There's already 68 signed up in the class!

Ya that monster monte carlo, 550 cubic inch big block with 950hp, but 3945lbs....yes that is CORRECT...I saw the corner balance sheet.....nearly 1000lbs per corner....WOW....it was laying down some great lap times, but got hit or hit someone (miata maybe) in the right front corner and messed up the fender.....
I think one of the trans-am corvettes (the blue-yellow one) was laying down 1:50's on Sunday on the bypass......I think he won the sunday race?

Isnt that the same #75 that runs with us in SCCA . It usually run really close to Michelle Nagi's #72, and it is basically a southwest touring car with some mods now, since they all run in SP. She is faster and I dont think she is that heavy and doesnt quite have that hp either from what the team said. (michelle, husband, mech, Steve and the rest of the guys)
I think this is the car that got spanked by the NSX turbo in our race weekend there. )(as did one of the fast transam cars! )
Edit: Yes that is Ken and Sue Lowell's car. they run 1:33s at laguna and 1:43s at Sears Point. If you saw it on the scales, I believe you, but I thougth it was a southwest tourng car chassis.

It is the Lowells car.....I didn't see them weigh it....I asked one of their wrenches what it weighs and he opened up the race book that had all the #'s in it....3945lbs was the number, slightly rear heavy, but not much....
