"Mark and Joe's car are since the base of the suspension / brakes / chassis of the 928 changed very little from the introductory year. That's what I get out of IcemanG17's comment about a 21-22 year old car."

i think i understand more what you are talking about now. i take "re-engineered" back. it was a bad term to use. let me use "cont. development". sure, shock location, stock gear and such are the same but anderson is one of the most knowledgeable 928 guru's. he has spend time and blood developing the car. you look at many so called MODDED track/race cars out there. those are cars with parts slapped on. may or may not work. you see plenty of those on track even in races. then you see cars like marks or jerry woods/gamroth 911 spec cars. they are basically still like what they were when they were introduced decades ago, but the shocks, rates, springs, best size of tires (as you know, bigger aint always better), how to reduce wt., where to reduce wt, how to improve aero.... i am sure mark did many iterations of those.... that is what i call "re-engineering" . i watched him race many times. i have nothing but respect for him. but i wont call his car as a 20 year old car.

you can also look at 911 spec, 30 years +, and look at the times they can pull off. they are still on old suspension technology. but i dont think it's fair to call them 30 year old cars. they have been continuous "developed" or "re-engineered" (which is a term i used poorly in this thread)...

i am not taking away that 928 is a great car, i have a 86 928 and a 88 928 (unfortunately both are auto) i know what they can do. and certainly not taking away what mark did in the race!

mooty,
Sounds good, I never took your comment as knocking the 928 (even if you were, I'm not going to go ape**** until you call them fat / slow )

It's not uncommon to hear people say Mark and Joes cars are tube frame race cars with 928 looking panels.
I corrected someone at Road America a few years ago who pointed out to his friends the "tube frame" 928 race car. I very politely told him that was the roll cage.....

Who needs technology when you have 400 cubic inches and 12" rubber all around. Being 1000 lbs lighter than stock doesn't hurt either.

oh ya baby, 400 C to the freakin U! gimme 2000 lbs with driver dry, 13" slicks and at least 4L (it would be even nicer to have your 6.55L though

the older PRC lightweight 911s in GT2 class are whippin the new fangled cup cars.

glad we got it straightened out.
my 928s are FAT alright. but they aren't slow even the 86 at 288hp with the truly POS automatic was fast. part of the prob with 928's is that they are just way too far ahead of its time. look at how the instrument pod adjusts.... your str wont block the gauges. that's a lot more than i can say with my MODERN cars. i can't see 1/2 of my gauges LOL.

tube frame for sure not. you can figure that out from 100 feet away!

no kidding when you and brian round T11 and got on the throttle, he had no chance.....

and drew was driving as ballsy as he can, still can't catch up. it was great watching the fast guys in POC.

dont know if you saw the qual time for aspesi's BSR. 1:42.....

can you convince POC to come up to infineon? that would be great fun!

[QUOTE=Hacker-Pschorr;6843450]....and even a full carbon tub which is available for the 911's (or better yet a full Fabcar chassis)....QUOTE]

Who makes a full carbon tub for an old (or new for that matter) 911?
