Still remember the images of Hunt the shunt with a beer in one hand and a cig in the other, and two or three women who belong in the "I'd hit it thread" on either side in victory lane, or KeKe taking a long drag on his Marlboro... and who can forget Dick Trickle of NASCAR fame, lighting up a cig DURING the race while in a yellow flag slowdown?? He had a lighter on the dash for God's sake!!!

For the most of us, it's no big secret. Consume less and work out more. For me, I try to curb the barley pops some and run 4.5 mi everyday. And I don't run at a slow pace. At 40, I am running that 4.5 miles at a 7.2 min/mi pace or better. Got to really push it to keep the pounds off. And I was fat as a kid.

Even if some of the NASCAR guys like Tony Stewart look fat, they still do fitness stuff. Obviously not at the level of guys like Martin and Edwards, but they still do it. F1 drivers (as someone said earlier) have a NEED to be stick thin to keep the weight down in the cars. I'm not going to argue on the whole that F1 drivers are in better shape than NASCAR drivers, but to say all of NASCAR sucks because they can't do what F1 drivers do is just stupid.
First, congrats!

Second, spot-on. But don't try to confuse american gladiators with your facts.

How many taking shots at those drivers are the same ones who need cool suits for DEs in 85 degree weather when the NASCAR guys are doing hours at 140 without cool suits and with floor temps high enough to melt their shoes?

Consider that F1 requires a very high level of overall fitness with a huge premium on driver weight. NASCAR requires a different kind of fitness - kind of like the difference between the fitness/weight of an NFL quarterback vs. lineman. Why don't we put some F1 drivers up against some NFL linemen in a wresting match - hell the F1 guys should kill them because they are obviously much more fit.

And NA$CAR vs F1 with the $ sign on NASCAR is silly. F1 is far more about money. Personal playground of Bernie & gang. Killing the classic venues in favor of desert tracks and city streets, but yeah, NA$CAR is more driven by $ than F1 - LOL.

All major, professional motorsports require a lot from the driver - fitness, dedication, sacrifice, risk, etc. To continue to take cheap shots at one form really decreases the overall intelligence level that historically has been shown on this forum.

OK, off my soapbox, for now.

Exactly. That is what I have been saying in this thread.

Hey, Frank, do you like this avatar?

eat better (not less, just better. Better nutritional content and breaking up meals eating 4-5 times a day rather than 2) and work out at least 5 days a week. Was in a fire suit for a good 5-6 hours in the middle of florida summer last month and did not feel insanely fatigued and on the verge of passing out like others were... I know if this was last year I would definitely not have made it.

Hmmm. I will try to do bettter. Do you think this would be a good one?

Note: Image deleted. Please do not confuse this forum with OT and the I'd hit it thread. Lots of folks peruse this forum at work and do not want images of this type on their screens.

Thanks!

Bob

Guys,

I removed the bikini image. Let's not confuse this forum with I'd Hit It over in OT. Complaints have already been recorded.

Thanks for your co-operation.
