Glad nothing happened to you or the car as well, that's scary and I can relate to the vibration issue and thinking it's just pick up inside the wheel or throwing a wheel weight.. You just never think about it! Things always happen too at the end of the day, I corded my tires and should have realized at Thunderbolt day 3, since I started slipping and sliding and the fact that my brakes weren't giving me that stopping power I was having the day before... Did some late braking down the straight with a GT3 cup on my tail and well just couldnt stop in time, ripped my damn rear brake duct right off , last session too :/

Damn, lucky it didn't happen on the straight. We should all pay more attention when somthing "just doesn't feel right".

Calabogie is hard on driver's side rear tires because of the near constant loading. Mine usually wear out outside rear though.

The track can be slippery, which I found it to be on Thrusday since my tires are old and I was oversteering like crazy in every corner, but then dropped pressures and things got managable.

Hmmmmm?
Ok, and I'm guessing you have not seen uneven tire wear like this before. Your settings may have changed.

If you're happy with this uneven wear (temps) just put another set of tires on and go for it.

Geee, thanks Dad!

This wasn't a post to ask what is wrong with my tire wear, more of a hey "if something doesn't feel right, hit the pits to check it out." I'm just glad the outcome wasn't dramatic.

Geee, thanks Son!

It just sounded like you were unconcerned with the tire wear. I was posting to say hey, "you should get your equipment checked out, you can prevent this type of wear/incident." Glad this was a good learning experience for you.

Smile R-888 Tires

I just cant get behind these tires....it seems a bloody shame to have had the RA-1 tires go away.

Rather than go to R-888, I went to Nitto NT 01 tires. They were about $1,000 (US) a set. They are OK, about the same as RA-1s, about the same price.

If I had unlimited funds...I'd run nothing but Hoosiers.

Calabogie ARMACO looks formidable. Beautiful track none the less.

He's still looking for them...

I'm not sure what kind of times he was running there.

Toyo is beginning production of the RA1 ones again. I'm unsure if they will be doing limited sizing though.

I don't have any complaints against the R888s. I'm going on my forth set of them and still like them.

Regarding the Nitto tires, they are an old tire which aren't being produced anymore. I hear great things about them, but if you buy a set, they can be 3-4 years old from date of production.

So far, just for Spec Pinata sizes.

that tire is brand new on the outside and gone on the inside. either way too much toe out in the rear or some real excessive camber or both.

I dont think that you can judge this tire by an obvious set up issue.

Watch WCGT as they dont seem to be having any issues.

Ive never seen at R888 look like this either.

Glad the owner want hurt.

If that was your left rear tire and you say it was inside edge then was it going the correct direction ?

The tires have about 10 track days on them. They are far from being new. I usually switch them on the rims at this point, but Calabogie got to 'em first. I also switch the left/right every other track day, but I haven't with this set. I think there's a lot of variables to consider. The last few days (5+) on 'em also were in the wet and I was drifting and lighting up the rears like crazy. So that may have something to do with it as well?

@onefastviking
Good eye. The tire pictured is the right passenger rear tire. The tire that blew isn't pictured. Sorry.
