Monticello video and report (PCA returning in August)

LOL see you there, that GMG exhaust sounds SICK... Like my RUF 590 setup with headers, except yours a bit louder

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to drive Monticello Motor Club yesterday on the full course. It was open track all day, at least until the monsoon hit around 2:30pm. At 3.7 miles, the 22 turns keep you extremely busy. There's a 3/4 mile straight with a kink, some second gear turns (which seemed very hard on the car), and a couple turn complexes that test your patience. Lot's of elevation changes and some blind entries.
The track is super smooth, curbing is enough but not too tall (although not extended enough at track out on several turns IMO), pit in & out are well placed. Like MidOhio, it favors cars with LSD. I was getting lots of wheel spin with my open diff. It's a work in progress having just opened last summer, but a very nice facility so far.
If you get the opportunity to drive it, don't hesitate!
Anyway, here's a little video clip to give you a taste of the track. Turn your speakers DOWN, the sound sucks.

Sounds like they did a good patch job from when we were there in May. Other than the visuals from your video of the tight corners where the paving is off colored (indicating the patching), could you feel any difference in pavement grip?
In my video from May you could hear the pavement coming apart and "tinking" the underside of the wheel wells. You can also see it in some spots - the debris on the outsides of the turns.

wasn't it called "gorillia grip" in the meeting? BTW, the full course is 3.45mi as determined by my MoTeC DAQ system on my driven line...which varied greatly due to the slow moving chicanes there on Tuesday.

Coulda been 'grilla grip', I really don't remember. Even though it was the first time on that track for most, some of the driving was, um.....questionable (?) given that everyone was supposed to be an instructor. Oh well, it was still a great experience, hopefully I wasn't one of the slow moving chicanes.

They called it "Rhino Patch"... close with "gorilla"... but no monkey.
There was still a fair amount of debris around the outsides of the turns.
And my data acquisition says the track length is 3.42 miles.

Can't wait to see the new grippy patches and surface!
