968 club sport +993 4S or 996 GT3?
I am looking for a track car to share with my father. it will mainly be used for track days but we might get into club racing in the future.
I've been told by alot of people that 968 club sport is the way to go. It's cheap, relatively fast and a great car to learn how to drive fast.
If I trade my nice 993 4S in good condition which I love, I could get a nice 996 gt3.
I am leaning towards keeping the 993 and getting a 968 with m030 and LSD. This way I would not have to worry to much about damaging the car. The reason why I'm hesitating is that I'm worried that the 968 will be too slow after a while. It will mainly be used on the tight local tracks, so I guess power isn't that important after all.
Will I get tired of the 968 as it lacks the looks, feel and power of a 911?
If I go for the gt3 option, there will be no club racing.
I guess I could always trade in both car later on and get a gt3.
I think I've answered my own question but I would like to hear your opinion. Which option would you go for and why?

I am very happy racing a 2450lbs 150 hp 944 NA. Same balance as the 968 club sport, but even cheaper to operate and buy. Plust doing 10k work of damage is nearly impossible in a 944 NA.
As for too slow.. have been driving this car for 9 years and racing it for 7 years. I am still have fun racing it.

968CS. Fantastic cars.
BTW, have 996GT3 prices fallen that low where they are an even trade for a 993C4s?
I know 996TT prices have fallen ($40K cars are available), I just thought the GT3 would do a bit better (due to lower #'s)

no, what I ment was that 993 +the money I would have spend on the 968 could get me a gt3. I'm in europe so I don't know about the prices in the us.

Get the 968. race it, and keep your 993. You will find that just about everyone racing a 968 is faster than just about every 996 GT3 DE car out there, point being the speed is not in the power, but rather in the driver.

+ the expense of many repairs on the GT3 will be the cost of the whole 968cs. Sounds like you are fairly young and perhaps inexperienced (no disrespect), the 968cs would be a much better choice in general.

a friend of mine, top 1/3 of spec miata on west coast, the maintain the car (not including OTE) and tires cost him quite a big over $10k. and miata parts are literally free (fenders are like $100 a piece)...
i got my BSR in jan. i have gone through 8 fronts and 6 rears already.
that's 3000 in tires. i need that much more to finish the year. so 6k in tires. now add the rest....
