Peter,

This is an endurance test. I was expecting the GTR (both) to break by the third event, but the pigs seem to be running well.

I can't believe those GTR are turning those lap times.

You have one of the highest preparation level street 996 GT2 in U.S., and Ian is an amazing driver. Sold my GT3 RS and Boxster Spec, and couldn't get a car on time for this event. Will try again next year.

Good luck, the battle is too close.

Wow the track @ CMP must have been really green, either that or the missing splitter is really killing the front end grip. Ian's time from last years event in the GT# was 5:10.884. Today in the GT2 he ran 5.09.240 in the dry which is only 1.644 seconds faster with aprrox. 200 more horsepower.

Obviously I'm playing armchair crew chief but I'm thinking you guys should try lowering the can pressure and dropping the compression and rebound damping a couple of clicks even if it makes the car wallow around to get some grip back.

The GT2 is just a little faster than the GT3, no matter how much money you put in the GT2

Power is power and One Lap rewards big power due to the limited grip from the street tires. Admittedly last year the GT3 was on Yokohama Advan Neova AD07s which are better in the dry than the Michelin PS2s they are running this year on the GT2. I expected to see Ian turn a 5:07 or a 5:08 in the GT2 this year which would be about right given his skill and the improved power to weight of the GT2 compared to our AWD 996TT. The 5:05 that the GTR laid down was just amazing, but it is his home track.

BMW Performance Center results posted. Something may have happened to Peter and Ian, they were 20 secs behind the Nissan GTR.

The other Nissan GTR is out, I'm not surprised. They're probably using it as a spare car part for the other GTR still running.

Whitis is out. His Gt-R never ran right. The grip @ CMP was horrible and the times showed it. Our lack of testing, multiple problems during test days, didn't allow us to get a good baseline setup.

BMW Center,

We needed a 1st place to keep us in the Hunt. The good, Ian took fastest time by around 3 sec. The Bad Ian hit 2 cones in a tight Chicane when the car went into ice mode. Each cone is 10 sec and this pushed us back to 19 for BMW. We still have a solid 1st looser overall but unless the GT-R makes a major mistake we will not be able to catch him.

Beavrun is in the books. Ian won both sessions and the GT-R was second. Steve Rankins in the GT-R was not pushing 100% but he didn't think he could have matched Ian's times. It will be interesting to see the dry skid pad #'s for the GT-R in the dry.

Peter, I'm going to regret those two cones hit by Ian, not as much as Ian and you. One more event to go and 100 points deficit.

Yes, it will be ugly if we would have won by not hitting the cones. BUT you can't make a mistake like that and expect to win.

Video of Ian's 2:18.7 lap @ Sebring. 3 Lap total from a standing start of 7:00.

Congrats to all on a great event. It was great to follow the GTR vs. GT2 battle. Too bad it didn't turn out closer at the end.

Its over. Now its off to continuing the development of the GT2 for 2010.
We didn't finish where we hoped to but we learned a lot about the car and what we need to work on, Besides not hitting cones The dry skid pad turned wet just as we were going out, the tire pressures were wrong and hey I sucked.

What are your plans for 2010?

I'd get rid of that GIAC flash, it is not one of the better ones from what I've seen. I also think you shouldn't try and go overboard. Maybe some aero developement and getting the power sorted, maybe some weight reduction.

#1 is getting some much needed track time to finish sorting out the car.
#2 is Aero
#3 is slight boost in hp but it must be dead nuts reliable.
Weight reduction is a hard one as I am not prepared to gut the car, been there done that with the E46M3, and the cost of carbon fiber parts is slightly North of crazy

As a side note my NA E46M3 ( Supercharged by Active Autowerkes for 2009 with 480+ whp ) which we drove to 1st in class SSGT1 SB and 16th overall in 2007 was part of Team Cannon Fodder this year driven by Catesby Jones and it finished 1st in class SSGT1 SB and 3rd overall. It was sort of neat that both my cars were on the podium Just not quite in the proper spots.
