Curious why they would say that... the rules are nothing like the Boxster Spec rules. It's almost identical (if not identical) to PCA Stock rules.

Here you go guys......ABS is NOT the villian. All ABS systems are programable. And yes, so is the stock factory system. So racers being racers, guys will cheat and change stuff. So it's easier to make it legal in my opinion. Sealed engines and shocks { Boxster Spec Series type } will be mandatory for HSR as well as min.weight and a spec series race tire {probably Hoosier DOT's} Since these are the new "Gen ll " engines, the oiling problems of the past will be fixed. Look at the PCA rules. It's a class killer!!!! HSR will be fun with their endurance series and a one marque race. Plus all the cars MUST have Historic paint schemes like the Martini car, Hippie Car, Pink Pig etc. Paul Goyette has ALL the info 904 651 0465

I belive this is a TEST....... If they get traction at the club level,who knows. Does it go to a PRO level or an International series like Ferrari Challenge???? The more support the better. It can only get good for the guys who don't want to spend big dough right now. Think of all the cars that will be for sale in a couple of years with all the tricks done already..............It's a WIN/WIN

Its a basic car, cage built in, set of hoosier tires, fire system, set of pagid pads and that's it for the build what else you do to the car is up to your budget as long as it's within the rules.

And Kelly moss is doing the cage.

From what I know ,it will also have a roll bar, Hoosier DOT tires, Recaro race seat, 6 point belts, SRF brake fluid, a competition alignment, Dyno Sheets and electrical cut-off switch. Engines will be sealed by Napleton for the HSR series. Cayman @ est. $53,000 and the "S" @ $64,500

BTW The Cayman comes with 18" wheels and Factory LSD. The "S" will have LSD as well. All the cars are built "body in white"

Yep!! $40k is a very good price for a 10 year old race car with probably 60-70k miles on the chassis and the old technology. It also has 300hp compared to the new "Genll" car at 295hp or 330hp for the "S". I agree that an old car is always going to be more economical. However,a couple of things happen when you buy a new car. First,it's BRAND NEW!!! Second, you can trade in a car to Napleton since they are a dealer.Third,the cars are tested by PRO drivers with all the work done for you and fourth, it is WAY less expensive than running a Cup Car. One more thing...where else can you finance a race car? Porsche can offer 3.9% on a loan since it's a street car!!!!!!!!

The real goal is to make the cars SAFE, but for HSR the car would be legal with a roll hoop with rear "kickers" and a cross brace. Best scenario...hmmmm. But a full cage can be added for not much more money to make it legal for PCA. Remember some Cup Cars didn't come with fuel cells because the different series in Europe didn't require them,but Grand Am did. It comes down to the series where YOU run the car. Of course HSR could change the rules and then the price of the cars would change accordingly. The individual owner has choices and Napleton is offering a car with these parts. If you decide it's not what you want, something can always be worked out.

Are we talking about Napelton Porsche in Chicago. They are pretty active in HSR racing. They have built a few Cayman S track cars too.

Bodhii is referring to a separate class (CaymanSpec) for the V1 (06 to 08) that will hopefully form under several national / regional sanctioning bodies. We have a draft rule set complete that will be routed/posted for comment shortly (similar to Koni and Boxster Spec).

The origin of this thread is a Porsche supported series for the V2 (2009+) Cayman and is designed for HSR and PCA stock.

These are two differnent efforts. One factory for new cars (this thread) and one grassroots for the 06 to 08 cars (CaymanSpec) that is not affiliated with Porsche in any way.
