Default 944 track car

I'm crossposting from the registry post. Building the 944 for track use only. Still figuring out if I need drive shafts when I want to put the 968 lsd box in the 944S2.

Also wondering about a good base set up for spring rates. Currently looking at KW with 90 fr and 140 rear, equivalent to 500/800 which seems imbalanced to me, Should I go 600 front?

Thanks

I have 600 / 800 f/r springs with no torsion bars and I like the setup and balance it provides although I may increase them now I trailer to the track (750/900)

This is Big Dave's setup for the KW V3 kit:

Fr,, 60N/mm or 335lbs/inch
Rear,, 50N/mm or 279lbs/inch..
The helpers are as stated in lalis post...

BUT ive fitted stronger springs in my set up...
Fr.. 80N/mm,,,447 lbs
Rear 70N/mm,, 391lbs...

I personally wouldnt go any stiffer than this "now" as i find it a bit uncomfy on the road...BUT,, its fantastic on track..Also after speaking to a VERY well respected + "seasoned" race car preparer. He recomends this as the strongest spring to fit to a S2 or otherwise....
Also these are THE stiffest that is recomended by KW testers for the V3 "standard" kit , unless its valving rates are changed at the factory....

Bump + rebound i set at HALF a turn OPEN from FULLY closed...Its easy to remember it that way...

I'm going with the same front setup:
20Nm (helper) + 80Nm (main) = 100Nm (total) or 558.8lbs front spring rate.

for the rear, I'm deleting Torsion bars, so:
10Nm (helper) + 90NM (main) = 100Nm (total) or 558.8lbs rear spring rate.

I might put a slighty stronger rear spring to get up to 750lbs-800lbs.

If I go any stiffer than that I would upgrade to Penskes or Motons before changing the springs.

The correct spring weight is dependant in part on the weight of the car, your dirving skill, what wheels and tires you're using and other suspension components to name a few things for consideration.

It is not a one size fits all scenario.

Since my car is several hundred pounds lighter than a PCA stock class I don't need near the springs to have the same effective spring rate.

you will need the LHS drive shaft as it is shorter in the 968.
