Help: Track rubber stuck on VentureShield
I'm hoping some of the track veterans out there can help me with a problem I have. I took one of my cars to Mosport last year, and when I got home, I noticed that the rocker panel VentureShield coating behind the driver side front wheel had rubber bonded in with it. Had I known about this ahead of time, I would have wiped the rubber off before it cooled.
I haven't been able to get it off, and my detailing guy isn't sure what to do because he doesn't want to damage the VentureShield.
I've subsequently been told that this rubbering is a common issue. So does anyone have any tips on how to get this rubber off without destroying the clear bra protection?
Thanks!
Mark

Thanks for the suggestions. I went out and bought some Zep Orange Degreaser. I tried it and Goo Gone with no luck. This rubber is pretty hard, and isn't coming off easily.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

Maybe a little heat. Not too much. Just to soften the rubber?

Not sure what VentureShield is, but if you are talking about a clear bra I have found that the stuff you can pick up at most any auto parts store to get bugs off is pretty effective. Some are more effective than others. And of course, the longer you wait to use it, the harder it is to get the stuff off.
Once you get it off, and before your next visit to the track, put a lot of clear wax all over the front end of your car. Makes it a lot easier to get the rubber off.

I'm going to try the hair dryer with some of these suggestions tomorrow.

Spartan SD-20 is used by ALL the NASCAR teams and many other professional racers to remove tire rubber from paint etc. It can be hard to find but it works perfectly- you will be amazed. And yes, I have used it in PPF and it does no damage, although do be careful around cheap decals as it WLL remove the ink
Also it is MUCH safer than paint thinner, brake clean, and most other cleaners for removing tire rubber

RejeX or the Miracle stuff (forget the name) people are finding at Target and the like...works like a champ.
If it's EMBEDDED in the material, all you can hope is to get the black color of the rubber out, the damage is done in the form of an abrasion to the material, can't fix that.

I guess I did. The 944 turbo has the rock guards in front of the rear wheel, and it worked well there..
