Question for you guys. I have a new set of Toyota rotors and a new set of Carbotech XP10 pads to install on my Supra. The rotors have a silver coating on them which I think is zinc. Should I run an old set of Ctechs to wear that stuff off before bedding in my new pads? Or, will it not matter?
I just did this on my 944. New Zimmerman rotors and "used" (last season) PF97s. I had a fun time bedding the pads on the back roads near my house. Unfortunately, I did it on a rainy day and didn't clean the wheels when I was done. The stuff was caked on the rims, rusted and have basically ruined the rims (D90s). My street rims. I have a ton of work to refinish these now. Just pointing out the need to clean up when doing this in the rain.
