Default Looking at Nitto NT01's - Size question

I have found the following for my 944 S2 track car:

Front wheels - 17x8.5
Rear Wheels - 17x9.0

Tires (Nitto) NT01:
Front: 235/40/17
Rear: 255/40/17

Will this setup work properly or should I consider the Toyo R888 with 245/40/17 and 255/40/17?

According to the Nitto site, the specs for the 235/40 is wider than the 245/45 they list. The 235/40 is recommended for the 8.5 wheel width whereas the 245 is sized for the 8.0.

Thoughts? My head is spinning.

C.

For track use on a 44, you can put the same tire size on those rims. If you want to stagger, then make sure the diameter of F and R tires are similar (same or very close). FWIW, I have put 255 and 275 Hoosiers on 9.5 rims without any noticable difference.

The Nitto's are significantly less expensive than the R888's. They're basically the same as the RA1's.
