cool, video.. I wish I could hear that thing run!!! And watching this reminds me of how far the DP cars have come. I know that some people think they are all ugly. But IMHO, I feel that the newer version of the cars are MUCh better looking.... Thanks for posting the link!!

That's pretty cool. I wonder if we'll see any of these older DP cars make it to PCA?

I sat in that car when Synergy owned it. I think at the time it was putting out somewhere closer to 480 - 500 HP not the 700+ it is now...

That thing must really fly.

Is a Porsche powered DP car legal in any class of PCA Club Racing?
I've had someone locally tell me that they are, but I'm not convinced.

They are allowed in the GTP classes, classed by engine displacement and N/A or Turbo.

Thanks Geoff.
I'd thought there was a rule requiring some portion of the chassis to be Porsche. Good to know that doesn't apply in GTP.

Well, that is partially true, however the rule says:

D. Porsche factory approved race cars and Porsches with log books issued prior to 1999 that do not strictly adhere to the provisions of the rule book may be allowed to participate in the GTP-1 thru GTP-6 on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Rules Committe and with the approval of the Club Racing Chairman.

The Porsche powered Grand Am DPs are "Porsche Factory Approved race cars." Well, maybe not the V8 version, but you get my point.
