Default Palm Beach Int'l may be in trouble!

Don't look now!
As some of us prepare for an upcoming PBOC race at Palm Beach International Raceway (Moroso) I came across this foreboding article. I hope that we don't get there on February 13 and find the front gate padlocked by the popo.

Gotta love it, they are holding back money because the economy is in the crapper and "today" they could have gotten the work done for less..

"The prices people agreed to are not the prices that are today," Dezer said. "I thought the contractors were taking advantage."

Sorry if your race gets canceled, but they need a good kick in the ***... I mean really, i'm not going to pay for the 50,000 gallons of fuel I bought at $4.50 a gallon because I can buy it now for $2.50.

It sounds like the contractors are getting screwed. This kind of the a short payment or sue us is all too common today.

That's low.
Let's hope the laws in Florida allow the contractors to get a quick resolution to this mess.

what type of contract did they have . . . cost + fixed fee? fixed price?

nevermind, it was fixed price. the owners are f-d. that was the risk they took when the agreed to that type of contract. pay up.

The article is almost 3 weeks old and has been fully discussed in a previous thread:

https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...inst-pbir.html

PBIR is NOT in trouble and people that are owed money are getting paid. Hyperbole like "PBIR May be in trouble" is a bit reckless.

Ahh, so they paid everyone in the 19 days that have passed and that must have been a mis-quote....

It really is amazing how some people think the worst or wish the worst. Ahh, so you have no idea what you're talking about and yet you continue to blabber.

Well, I for one would like to see PBIR succeed. Several friends I and will be there on Feb 4th for a private track event and I can't wait to see the new track/facilities.

Well aren't we being a bit defensive? I read the article. It wasn't written with flint, it was 20 days ago. It quoted one of the owners making an idiotic comment regarding his reasons for withholding contractors payment. It wasn't for unfinished work. It wasn't for shoddy work. It wasn't for a punchlist. It was because someone "in the know" must have told him he could get it done "today" cheaper than what his contract is for with these people. Now either he was misquoted (which I doubt) or he is a POS trying to rip off honest contractors. If indeed these people got paid what their contracts stipulated that's great. My comments were (and are) based on reading the article (was IT a fake?) and having had people try and steal from me after the fact. It happens all the time.

Veloce Raptor,

Is that a real picture of a Marine CH53, or some kind of computer paint job?

FWIW, PBIR was supposed to host the February rounds of the Florida Winter Tour.
The event was cancelled and moved to Homestead for this month.
That was before any of this became published.
