Anyone heard, seen, or tried these? I can't seem to find much info...

No, but they'd have to be significantly better than the A048 to make them worth your time and money. I had one set of A048s and they were absolutely terrible. Grip was not good for an "R" tire and they seemed to heat cycle out quickly, even though it took a while to wear them down to the cords.

A048's don't work well on heavy cars.

I wonder about these new ones? Can't seem to get much info on them. Must be very new?

ask on the lotus forum, they use that tire a lot. There are 2 compounds for the a048 hard and soft FYI

Well I was only interested in the AO50r really as I've heard too many people with Porsches complain that the 48 isn't up to a heavier car. I'm going in a specific event in March and have a list of tires to choose from hence the thread below. They make mention of the AO50r on the list and I wondered if it was an improvement?

On a separate issue I have to decide for the rest of the season whether to run a DOT Hoosier BFG R1 type tyre or go to a full slick. I'd like to find out more info on the relative merits vs longevity / costs. Any clues or just use Search?

I ran 2 sets of 048s. I drive to/from the track and found them reliable for sub 50 degree and or wet conditions. They do HC quickly in the summer heat.
