Default Best rotors for a stock class 993

As you can see I am trying to help out a friend with his 95 993 Track only car. Rotors, any brands to look for or look out for? I think he runs PF 97 pads if that matters.

I think D was the old class. The 993 runs with us in G now.

I'll edit, It still has the class letters from the previous owner. I also give Mark a shout. G for a 3.6L car just sounds wrong to me as does the big boys in J as it was where a stock 69 912 would have been.

The big boys in J have 400+ hp with a power to weight of mid 8's while those of us in G with a 3.6 have less than 300hp and a power to weight in the 11's!

How about a 3.6 in a sub 2000 lb car? Going to have to re think my braking points some that is if I ever get it finished.

You don't have many options for rotors on a 993 (stock class, no big reds). I prefer the stock Porsche brand. I also use the PF97's. I think your only other option is Zimmerman's, but I haven't had good luck with them. They crack way before the stock ones do.

+1. Kurt, have your buddy get the rotors from Sunset. The last time I checked, the fronts were $110 or so each. I usually get my rotors used from guys looking to get rid of the ones on their street cars. If he wants to run in class as a G car, his options are limited.

I run Hawk HT-10's but previously used Hawk Blues.

Thanks, he has Zimmermans now and was going to replace with same. A long time ago the SC size Zimmermans had an issue with cracks but I did not know if the issue was wider than that one size.

I gotta stop poking around in the newer cars. Too much to like.

Kurt,

They both crack.... I hardly get a lip on them before the cracks touch from hole to hole. It's just that it happens much quicker with zimms.

Agree with others. The Zimmermans do not last as long and to add insult, the hats rust as they are not temp painted like the stock rotors. Just use stock and get some good cooling to them.

Stock are best, and cheap from Sunset (relatively). They bite well, but crack fast. I was lucky and was able to switch to Big Reds...huge difference in longevity.

If we had some custom hats made to work with replacable solid rotors from AP or someone would that be leagle or is stock rotor our only option? It would be nice to have solid rotors as an option and just replace the friction surface. Seems there should be a market for aftermarket rotors for these cars. Somebody please make a solid rotor for us

Stock classes require the rotors to be as supplied by the factory for that year and model type. You are allowed to drill, groove, or slot the stock rotors.
