I also just saw they put up this press release:

Driving Impressions the Company– TeamDI the Brand
By Robert Zecca
Wednesday, January 07, 2009

Driving Impressions started in 1983 and has concentrated on bringing you the
best automotive racing equipment from companies like Sparco, OMP,
Motorquality, Bieffe and Sabelt. We have decades of experience of product
development and distribution, probably more than any other company in the US
in existence today. As an importer we have learned who actually makes these
products for the larger companies.

Driving Impressions is now primarily selling its own brand called TeamDI. This is
comprised of a full lineup of Nomex gloves, socks, shoes, suits and underwear
as well as go-kart equipment and accessories. These products are of our own
development and design. Our goal is to bring to market a safety equipment line
that has the look, feel and quality of famous European brands at prices that retail
for 20-40% less. This is definitely the correct approach to today’s market
conditions.

A new strategic partner of Driving Impressions is Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP).
Driving Impressions is going to be their sole racing apparel retailer. “We feel
AMP not brings only brings a new level of enthusiasm to the motorsport industry,
but also has chosen one of the best locations in the country,” says Robert Zecca,
President of Driving Impressions.

AMP Founder, Jeremy Porter, feels this partnership is one that will benefit both
parties due to the similar culture of a high level of customer service. “Driving
Impressions has proven to be a solid company with 25 years of history, with
great success and a track record of servicing its clients very well. We feel the
partnership just makes sense.”

Steven Jaffe, Driving Impressions’ VP of Business Development adds, “I am
excited to expand our physical presence into such a strong market that Atlanta
has to offer. AMP is providing a high class facility and services that are
unmatched.”

As a way or promoting our line we have created our own racing series, the
TeamDI ProIT Series. www.proitseries.com
We’re looking forward to seeing you at the track in 2009!
Please contact Steve or Bob at 1-800-275-4667 to learn more about the TeamDI
brand and visit our website for more information on the products we offer.

I heard the zoning proposal passed. Don't know this for a fact. Just a response from someone I contacted and he said he "heard it passed". That's great news.!

Here's a link for an overview of AMP:

I just got this email:

PLANNING COMMISSION VOTED YES for AMP LAST NIGHT!! HUGE VICTORY!

One more hurdle to overcome, we have another meeting February 2nd at 6:30, same time, same place! Different people on the city council.

PLEASE HELP, RESEND YOUR E-MAIL TO THESE NEW E-MAIL ADDRESSES BELOW! (One is the same)

Also, forward this to anyone else you can think of to send the e-mail as well.

Put in the subject line – PLEASE APPROVE ATLANTA MOTORSPORTS PARK

You can put in the actual e-mail items such as the ones below, or just one line, approve AMP or Atlanta Motorsports Park, what ever you feel led to say in your own words:
• Many new Jobs
• City and county tax revenue
• Brings many support businesses that purchase property and build businesses near the course
• Provides local businesses additional income from outside of the city and county
• Drives more revenue into the Racing Hall of Fame because these are motorsports enthusiasts
• Provide the Ambulance service, and fire service with income through the vehicle rental.
• Does not tax the local infrastructure, schools, or emergency services
• Provides a driving school for high school students to reduce the tragic car related deaths
• Provides a place for law enforcement to do driver training
• Keep the Motorsports spirit alive in Dawson County and the city
• Provide off duty police, fire and EMT additional hours to earn more income they otherwise would not have a chance to earn.
• Provides a safe place for the local community to walk and ride their bicycles in non-operational hours

That would be really cool for you guys down south to get a new track. I'm pulling for you. The way I see it, the more the supply the more pressure it puts on the established tracks to provide a nicer facility and up their customer service. Take Summit Point for instance, all last summer guys had been screaming to fix the track. It was really beat up, especially in T1, T3, & T5. They did nothing to improve the track surface. Within a couple of months of Thunderbolt opening, the paving company is out grinding away and laying new pavement. I don't know if Thunderbolt opening was the only reason for BSR getting the track re-done but I'm sure somewhere it helped to influence to decision to get it done. Anyway, best of luck to you guys down south.

Contrary to current thinking in Congress, the Whitehouse and the Treasury, competition and profit and the ability to succeed (and fail) are strong motivators in capitalist society. Good for industry AND for consumers. Take that away and its a race to the bottom. Sorry- couldn't help myself.

I worry about New France, er, America I mean.

I sure hope this works out. I'm not feeling the country club membership (with tennis courts and all that jazz), I wish they'd leave that out and keep the focus on having a top notch facility. There is plenty of stuff to do in nearby Atlanta that all the extras aren't needed IMO.

I always wanted to move back to Florida where I grew up, but with all these great tracks so close I don't think I can do it.

Guys,
On April 13th, the committee is re-convening for a final "review of facts." I won't be able to make it, but go if you can! I will send emails to the members too voicing my support.

http://www.atlantamotorsportspark.ne...ring_0413.html
FINAL ZONING HEARING – WE NEED YOUR HELP – April 13th , 6:00 PM

To all fellow racers/drivers/riders:

Thank you for your interest and support with Atlanta Motorsports Park. I have been working on this project for many years and the goal is to have it across the finish line in April 13th.

To do this, AMP needs your support in the Zoning Hearing on April 13th, 6:00 PM, Dawsonville, GA at the Racing Hall of Fame, City Hall, the second floor. PLEASE WEAR A BLUE SHIRT OF ANY TYPE SHOWING YOU ARE WITH AMP!!

WE NEED YOUR VOICE AND SUPPORT! This may be the most important date in your racing future to allow a world-class facility to be opened in your backyard.

Please tell anyone that loves seat time to attend this meeting to give their support on this project.

Directions to The Racing Hall of Fame/City Hall: 400 North, once you pass the outlet mall, turn left on Highway 53, follow highway 53 through town, until it dead ends, turn left continuing to follow 53 until you see the City Hall, Racing Hall of Fame on your right. It is about 10 miles from 400.

Excellent. I'm sure they really appreciate your help. The outspoken minority worries me a bit, but I feel confident logic will win out... hopefully the council members will see the benefit this will bring to the area.

Will you be attending the PCA DE at Road Atlanta in a few weeks?
