They just had their zoning hearing last week; I'm not sure what happened there. I would have gone, but I was out of town. I've spoken to the owner and he seemed like all was on track and paving would begin in the spring.

It seems like it is gaining speed as NJMP did when it was in its transition from a "proposed" project to a "ready to build" project.
I'm excited to see where the project leads, they have a nice growing list of sponsors on their site as well.
I'm also following the Blue Grass Motorsports project, I think it should be open in 09, and is gaining a lot of attention nationwide. Exciting to see motorsports still grow in the US will all this BS economy stuff going on.

The hearing this month resulted in the motion for rezoning being tabled until late January. Many of us in the Atlanta area have been e-mailing commissioners with our pleas. Some of us intend to e-mail shortly before the next meeting. I think the more they hear from DE and race people with positive reasoning for having another motorsports facility, the better the chances for the rezoning approval.
I am listing the e-mail addresses of the people who should be contacted. There is to be a full-time noise restriction imposed as a negotiating point. One of the main objections from the people who live in the Dawsonville, GA area is noise polution from the track's activities. The proposed db limit is 103 and that's not extremely loud.
I hope some of you will understand the importance and feel the need to contact these people. I'm going to copy and paste the same note to each one of them.

It would be nice if we could get this stickied to the top of the page and possibly re-title to have everyone here email those who need it. Sort of like that track in Oregon was it? A form letter we could copy and paste with all the pertinant info would be a plus as well.

Good idea. A sticky thread with a template to email to the proper contacts would be nice and could get a LOT of attention and results.
There are also online surveys that can be conducted and submitted to the same contacts to show how much support there actually is.
