Default Alfano Tyrecontrol

Just ordered one of these (for the upcoming karting season with my son)

Looks like a well thought out unit and pretty much an 'all in one' device for tire tuning.

OK, so I just bought myself an early XMAS present......

Definitely be handy. Take what used to be a three man job down to only one person.

Should arrive Friday per UPS tracking.
The S/W package that it comes with is equally impressive looking.

Between this and the Mychron4 GPS on the kart......the driver (my son) definitely knows who to blame.....I'm out of excuses.

That is flippin' awesome and leaves me wondering why such a device hasn't existed for years from multiple manufacturers?

+1

Now I know who to park next to at the kart track next season. I guess I knew that already, though.

IMHO, for what it does, it was worth it.
(BTW, it has only been on the market for about 3 months, so it's new)

Real $, but if it works well with the software, etc., I think it is good money spent compared to the cost of quality TPG and TTGs purchased separately.

Real $, but I no longer think in $....I think only in terms of tires (2 sets), rear axles (1.5).....over the course of a season, this and the GPS quickly pay for themselves IMHO.

Of course the real enjoyment is arguing with the driver over "what he feels" over "what the data says"...... and of course the Team President/CEO/CFO/Treasurer/Fan club .....a.k.a. MOM.....always sides with the driver.

This is quickly followed by "don't make me get in the kart and show you"..... did that once at Moroso in Florida.... I chuckled when he said "Wow, I guess you really can drive".....followed by me not being able to walk for 2 days (I'm getting old fast)

In the Northeast region, it's pretty much Rotax
www.rmaxchallenge.com

"Local" tracks are:

www.ovrp.com
www.f1outdoors.com
http://www.njmp.com/karting.html
http://beaverun.com/karting_series.php
http://www.etownraceway.com/main/karting/index.htm

At the local/club level, karting is quite affordable (Rotax engines are sealed, no maintenance (50 hours between rebuilds), tires can run 2-3 weekends).
However, once you get to the National karting level,.....well put it this way, my wife used to complain about the Cup car.....not anymore.

For a brand new, top of the line, loaded, kart/engine setup....under $10K. Used for about half of that.
Feel free to PM with karting questions (chassis, vendors, etc)

P.S. I don't drive...leave that to the kids.
