I hear ya. That's what comes to mind when I consider VIR, WGI, and Road America. You almost need 5 days to do a race weekend when the tow is that long.

I am taking a wait and see. The only good thing is that it isn't dead yet. Hopefully it is far enough along that it will survive in some guise.

Chris,

I've towed twice to Roebling, and that is an 8-hour tow for me. Very easy trip down I-95 at 75 mph. The trip to Bluegrass is through the mountains. Probably a bit more challenging, especially with the F150. I hear they are giving big discounts on Ford Super Dutys. Hmmm???

I'd hate to see all that pavement go to waste.

I'm currently a member and have been disappointed with the lack of disclosure on many things but have tried to be paitent. I asked for my membership deposit back via letter a couple months ago in accordance with the contract I signed which said it would it would be kept in escrow until the track opened and would be refunded in the event the track didn't open by summer 2009.

After several attempts to contact the track with no luck (letter/phone/email), I was finally able to speak with Brad Poppel via telephone a few weeks ago and he agreed to refund the deposit pursuant to the contract. Of course, as I type this, no refund has been sent.

I sure hope the track gets going eventually. The location between Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati is really ideal. However, I do have concerns as to whether the current group can pull it off without getting some help.

Our Region MORPCA has a track date in mid October. we rolled our 2009 deposit to 2010. We were told that the earliest the track will open would be in July 2010. We were told that the finally got financing in place and things should be moving forward. You will know once spring hits if its for real or not. If they start paving then we are in business. It needs another layer of blacktop and guardrails and barriers before you would get a PCA sanctioned event there.

That's better news than I was expecting. Seems like financing would be easier to get now that they've got something down in terms of a track surface. Otherwise someone would be out of a whole lot of money if they had to abandon it.

Hoping for the best.

I was told the same thing, but current track management has started to establish a pattern of being unable to tell the truth about much. Your region may end up needing to file a lein on the property for the deposit along with others. There is more detail out there on the specifics, but I don't want to post them on a public forum right now.

I do believe the track will work eventually in some form. It's a nice lay-out and an good location. However, based on my personal interaction with current track management I'm starting to believe the best opportunity for long-term success there will be if the current group is bought out by someone else. It could happen but most likely not in the short term.

Some form of honesty and integrity is important in a deal like this and once it's established you don't have much it is difficult to have a successful organization long term.

Dump the Membership/Motorsport Country Club concept. If it isn't a good enough design to make it on it's own merit, it will fail sooner or later as a "Club".

Also the circuit seems to be laid out on top of the narrow ridges common to this part of Kentucky. Does this allow sufficient run off for an amateur track?

Rename it "Bluegrass Sports Car Road Course".

The track is going to need a lot of armco or many sand traps to keep cars out of the woods!!

There are several videos of people on youtube out caravaning and driving the track as late as october, I was rather surprised. The infield looks like a corn field. But it looks like it would have been a terrific track.
