As usual with F1 testing, I don't know how much you can take away from laptimes. Especially not when Sato is the leader by a large margin in a Toro Rosso car.

Agreed, but it's probably fair to say that he certainly didn't embarrass himself.

The Toro Rosso is a decent car now. But in looking at the photos from Spain, everyone is doing their own thing. BMW is definitely running next years car with and without slicks. Williams is running their 2008 and 2009 car, alot of others are running the 2008 car on grooved and slick tires. Times are not so important to their programs.

Loeb was faster than Jr, who Alonso has repeatedly demanded to have his team mate, I wonder why...?

As you'd expect from a WRC multi-champion, Loeb is supremely talented. But he's also just a nice guy from the countryside.

After his first-ever laps at his first LeMans test (I think it was with Pescarolo about three years ago), he lapped within 10 seconds of their fastest man. Upon emerging from the car, when asked about this tremendous performance, his typically-self-effacing answer was, "I was just trying not to wreck the car." Recall this is a 210-220 second lap, with an average speed for the P1 cars of ~145 mph, and this guy has spent his whole career in AWD rally cars !!

This is a guy with his feet on the ground.
