Default defNder, new H&N

I have known for a while now that I need a H&N and while looking around I just saw this: http://www.defnder.com/index.htm

It appears the price will be around $550, which is significantly less than the Hans or R3 and is SFI 38.1 certified. http://www.trackpedia.com/forums/sho...defnder&page=2

Also looked at: http://www.trackpedia.com/forums/sho...hlight=defnder with this chart: http://www.am-rennsport.com/HNR.html

I did a search here with no hits. Any thoughts on this?

Looks good to me, as long as those "Team Issue" stickers can be removed..

Wonder what the carbon fiber one will cost once it gets 38.1 certification. Must weigh about what my Hans Pro weighs.

The Hans Sport Series is $695 with sliding tethers...its not that much of a price difference. The big thing will be how, or if it outperforms Hans.

Looks pretty good...I particularly like the harness guides. I'm always checking the harnesses on my HANS, fearing they will slip off.

Somebody's been paying attention it seems.
A HANS-like device that addresses the issues that a HANS device (clearly) doesn't have.
Nicely done.

It also seems as though they have made a conscious decision in the design so as to not offer multiple models for various seat angles, like the HANS does with its 10, 20 and 30 models.

It also seems as though they have avoided as many potential patent infringement with H&D.
The helmet mounts look interesting also.

Having just tested this feature of my ISAAC again a week ago, I'm happy to see the improvement in lateral support vs. the HANS...

I don't know about that. Seems to be a direct copy of the basic HANS concept with a few tweaks. I like the idea of the side straps but their mounting tab for that strap looks pretty weak from the photos.

I plan on looking at it next month when it officially debuts. I'll report back what my thoughts are.

+1. I cant see HANS sitting on the sidelines for this. Looks like some nice upgrades though--good for us ultimately.

Perhaps.
H&D may "suggest" to sanctioning bodies that the HANS be the exclusive SFI38.1 H&N restraint.....(of course that brings into question the whole reason for SFI38.1 to exist and why some sanctioning bodies only allow a HANS device to be used)
Remember, they are the Microsoft of the H&N restraint community.

Interesting, too bad it looks like a Nerf gun though.
