They all have their own attributes, but is there a common thread between
each "specialty'?......

Well that is debatable.... a good driver, independent of the "specialty" will probably do well in any car......
number of seat occupied......
see previous answer.....
venue where they compete......
OK, I will give you that.....
Pit babes.....
I didn't know there was a difference....

Sure there is. In F1 they wear Gucci sunglasses bigger than the racers helmet shields, carry Burberry bags, and are wasted on prescription pills.
At a Rally, they wear DC shoes, carry Da Kine bags, and call each other dude while smoking joints

rally driver: does what ever means neccessary to get the car from A to B, not always perfect, but never the less either are the courses.....
race driver: perfects carving the perfect line, over and over again
stunt driver: takes calculated risks during abnormal driving situations
All different, but yet the same....

It seems like you're confusing a race car driver for a time trialer or DE student. In a busy race, you rarely drive "the line". I find racing to be far more creative and reactive...the line is an afterthought to figuring out how to beat the car in front of you. Perfecting the line is the easy part of racing IMO.
