I came across this instructor quote here on Rennlist a long time ago...

If you're trying to impress me, you can't.
If you're trying to scare the **** out of me, you already have.

Student corollary:

Those who can - do.
Those who can't - teach.

Any time I get the silly idea that I'm any good at this, I remind myself of the first quote.
And when I get the very rare instructor that is overly critical, I remind myself of the second.

Helps keep everything in perspective.
