Nitto NT01 DOT-R tires
Anybody using Nitto NT01 tires instead of Hoosiers for DE or racing?
Bimmerworld says they use them for enduro racing and recommend them for track wkends, longer wear, lower price?

I started using them this year. Wear is pretty good, and the price is good. About 1 sec slower than an MPSC on my car. I moved to them over cups because it is very difficult to get heat into cups with my car (2700lbs) in cooler temps. The Nitto does not have the same issue, and hopfully they will be fast to the cord and not heat cycle out like the cups.

I use the Nittos and love them. They are about 2-3 sec. slower than the Hoosier, depending on what HC the Hoosiers are on, but they are cheaper and consistant to the cords. They get up to temperatures quickly too and don't get too greasy after long runs.

I had a short experience with mine on my previous car before selling it and they were fantastic. Just got some wheels for my current car so I can run them again. At my level, I don't really care if I'm a sec or two slower then with my cups, at least they will last me longer. Also, they are very predictable compared to cups.

I have had maybe 4-5 sets this year. The fronts last longer than rears and I do not recall who it was gave the great suggestion to get 3 rears and rotate them out. NT01s are not directional and can be rotated which is a plus. They do get greasy over 40 psi in the rears on the GT3. 36/38 is the optimal hot.
about half life is where they get good. First heat cycle they are not that great. Slower than others, but last a while. I can get 1000-1200 miles out of them including back and forth to the track. ~100 mls Round Trip.
They start to make noise at 45-55 mph when at half life.
Ran with a good driver last Friday and he was 1/2 sec faster on R6 with same exact car in 1.8 mile 11 turn track. I know the hoosiers are faster but do not have the data.
Some I know are a little frustrated with them as the sidewalls are not as stiff as others, but I have been sticking with them for now myself.

I have them.. They are great. I drive 80% on the track but use them as my street tires too. Last weekend I corded a front tire due to a positive Camber I had to pull out my Cup wheels with BFG R1. IMO they are not as good as the Nittos. Not the same feel etc.
One thing that I thought was odd about the Nittos was that the tread pattern looks as though it should be directional, but it is not. The only thing that I noticed because of that was they are loud. Best part is I can get a entire set of 18" for under $900.

i like them a lot. think they are far better than 888, do not heat cycle out u go fast to the cord. think they're about $300 cheaper than cups too. time diff i think .5 to 1 sec tops slower than cups (on a 2min track). never tried hoosiers and don't plan to start smoking that pipe (at least until s&p >1500 again...)

Three Wheelin'
I ran them on my 964 and loved them. Excellent wear even with a very aggressive alignment. They are the best "value" tire out there IMO. The Hoosiers are without a doubt faster though...

They're comparable to the RA1, which is to say a second or two off of Hoosiers, depending on how well you set up your suspension for each. Unlike the Hoosiers, they are not 'in the zone' for only a day or so. You can drive on them to the track. I use the same tires for both daily driving and track use.
Toyo and Nitto are essentially the same company. I believe the NT01 is the same rubber compound as the RA1, but with 2/32 less initial tread depth (which is good), and a more stable tread pattern. I've seen my best lap times with very low (like in the mid to upper 20s) hot pressures, but my car is on the light side and my tires are wide relative to that weight (2700 pounds with driver and fuel, 275/315 tires).

I have run them and found them very predictable on my 964. I believe that the Toyo 888's are noisy, I don't find that with the Nitto's. Definitely a good price,
long lasting also.
long lasting also.

That is an excellent description. They are predictable which gave me a lot of confidence in them over the BFG R1.
