Rennlisters take a class win at the GPNY 6 hour enduro kart event
FredC, Dr Jupeman and I teamed up for the GPNY 6 hour enduro kart race at GPNY www.gpny.com
It was a lot of fun and didn't seem as long as I thought it would at the start. Charlie and Fred were flying. We each had a few hiccups with drive through penalties for rough driving but we managed to take the GTA class win.
The most fun was hearing the announcers trying to pronounce our team name "The Fuchs"
The hardware is better than PCA

Great job guys, and it sounds like a blast!
Another team member told me that there was an "Unlimited Class" for teams with an avg. weight over 220lbs. I'll need to wait for the Cruiser Class to come along.

Yes we did. It is a lot of fun.
We led our class the entire race. We beat 1 pro team and we could have also finished ahead of 1 or 2 other pro teams had it not been for about 3 mins that we lost in black flags, spin outs, and crashes... I was responsible for more than my fair share of the above . Sorry Sean and Jupe. I almost got us thrown out at after 90 mins for some hand and arm gestures (a la Massa) to marshalls and other drivers... Turned out ok as we were much more disciplined from hours 3 to 6. In the last 30 to 60 mins, we were running laps under 1 minute, like the top pro teams. All we needed was another 6 hours
Sean, Jupe: Let's do this again.

sore, but it would have been a lot worse if Fred hadn't built a homemade seat insert from bubble wrap and packing tape (the uhaul store special). I could hear the sneers from the other teams, but it was like cruising in a Cadillac with that thing. I had it fall out half way through a stint and the difference was night and day. I wish I had taken a picture of thing. It was pretty funny to hear the pop, pop, pop during a big hit (of which there were plenty).

WTF? I wasn't even the heaviest guy on our team!
It was a great time. It was a bit frustrating as a driver because they kept watering down the track. You'd drive through a perfectly dry corner one lap and the next lap it would have standing water.
This was run on the long course which combines both of GPNY's tracks. When dry enough, there is one turn where you'd get airborne. Pretty cool...
We were preaching before the green flag that we had to drive smart, but I think the Sean/Fred/Charlie team runs with fire in their eyes and rarely back down in corners. 6 combined black flag penalties and untold numbers of furled black flag warnings later and we finished with a 2+ lap lead over the next team in class. (As Fred points out, we probably could have been 4-6 laps up. Perhaps next time we'll drive with more patience..... ER, doubtful. )
Btw, team cost was $800 for registration 2 weeks+ in advance. Website is above in Sean's original post. You drive their karts. They provide driving suits, helmets, and neck braces. You can provide any of those three items if you wish. Most had their own helmets, but most wear their suits.

Fred's bubble wrap was key. My ribs weren't sore at all even after some pretty massive hits.
Fwiw, I think 3 drivers is the right number. Hell, if the rules allowed it, I think 2 would be doable. If you go to 4 drivers I think you won't drive enough.
