I'll probably run as many or more events next year & still save 80+% but that's due to the Cup to SpecBox swap. It's MUCH easier to justify when you can race for basically a DE budget. Now the only issue I consider is the time expenditure.

I'm sort of maintaining a holding pattern. At this point, I'm not planning on racing in 2009 until I am able to determine if my job will be there. I might be looking at 8-12 months out of work if layoff's come my way.
I've got some Benjamin's now, but I'm not so sure about next year.

I lost my job the 1st of August (actually the Monday I returned from the PCA/VIR race). After evaluating the job market I set a goal of accepting a position by the end of October.
Well there's still a chance (actually 3 chances) I can make this goal, but it's slim.
So my rule to myself: no track until I secure a job.
No plans to sell the car though.

Sorry to hear, Pat.
My plans for the next 12 monts remain unchanged so far, with one possible exception: I believe it may be more difficult, if not impossible, to secure sponsorship once again to get back into a GA or WC ride, as I had hoped to do in 2009.

I still plan on doing about the same number of events in 09' that I did in 08'. However what I will likely do different is more local events to keep total costs down, ie. Fuel, Hotel, etc. I'm also glad I got my instructor cert this year to help off set some of the entry fees.

I guess I've been very fortunate. My income hasn't changed, I have a small mortgage, and the stock market losses are all theoretical for me at this point. Unless something drastic changes, I still plan on tracking as much next year as this year. Anyway, the addiction is too strong. I'd probably cut back other "discretionary" spending before I stopped tracking.
