George Forgeois might have stalled the car after a spin in his # 30 Intersport Racing Lola B07/10 Judd. It was his first ALMS race since 2005.

What about Patrick Long at St. Pete? He clipped a Viper.

One of the RS Spyders lost a battery after a crash with Duncan Dayton's LMP1 Lola at Portland in 2006.

What about the GT2 finish in the 2007 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring? The endurance race had just two caution flags and the last was over two hours before the finish.

At any rate, my perspective: McNish made up 2 laps, some with luck (early yellow), others with skill in an inferior car vs. his opponent's. It was a superior performance.

I think Peugeot might have made a mistake leaving Klien in the car. His lack of experience showed in the last restart for sure.

In general, the Peugeot's driver lineup showed their inexperience in ALMS racing the entire 10 hours. They were very timid in traffic vs. the Audis and that all added up over 10 hours.
We agree.

If I recall in the post race interview, Jorg Bergmeister said he got fastest lap and was really hooked up. However, I haven't been able to find fastest lap info. Even IMSA scoring doesn't show me. Did Jorg get it at the end? I know he was reeling in Salo but Salo could have been backing off towards the end.

Did he change his name to Ryan Briscoe in hopes of driving like him?

Exactly, it makes you wonder. Briscoe = good! Penske knows how to spot talent. If I recall, it was Penske who had Porsche put Briscoe in one of the Spyders last year. Look how poorly the #6 car has done since he left...

(You gotta think that the factory team had their egos pretty severely bruised with Briscoe coming in at Detroit and Road Atlanta and schooling them like this...)

Completely agree on all points!

Can you imagine the ribbing by the IRL guys after the race? The 5 car even used IRL pit crew.

It's all good I'm sure, but you know how guys can get when one team is one-upped by the new guys.

A very exciting race, I was there most of Friday and Saturday. I have attended the last 9 PLM's.

Some crazy numbers:
Peugeot 202.mMPH on the back straight

Even more amazing:
AGR Acura LMP2 143.4 MPH at the bottom of the hill at T1
How is that even possible?

Latest (credible) rumor is that Penske will be back in the ALMS for 2009 but not likely with Porsche.

Wow, if that's true, the Spyders are lucky Acura is moving to LMP1. I think the result of the Indy Penske boys beating the Usual Spyder drivers from Porsche may have spoken volumes. Penske can keep it in house in another make of car.

The reason behind this is the change of rules.
P2 will be severely restricted next year. They will stand no chance (what so ever) of winning overall.
Penske does not want to continue to race just for class wins.
The P1 will suffer restrictions for 2009 and as a result all other classes will also be restricted.
