Default Thunderhill - Faster or slower?

I was wondering what the verdict was after this weekend. Is the repaved Thunderhill faster or slower?

I hear it chews up tires, true? If so, that's different than what LS did...

Faster. For me faster by almost .5 seconds over previous best, but there have been changes with the car so it's hard to tell. But you can now put your wheels on the berm in 8 for instance, they have cut them down quite a bit. They are rough, but not too bad on tires.

I picked up about 2 seconds. But I changed my sway bar settings and the car felt better, so that may be part of it. I was hoping that was all of it.

I was just there Thursday and Friday with HOD. I'll be back next month with HOD and Unlimited Laps.

Did you have to dial out some push?

You talking to me? If you are, and you mean dial out some push because of the new track, you are giving me too much credit.

I had dialed out some push (that I didn't realize I had), before I even got there, just because I had hit a plateau and wanted to try a change after 2 years with the same settings. I think Tom W. was there (I feel like an idiot not introducing myself) and I'm sure he has some more definitive answers.

The track feels like it has more grip and is easier to drive. The berms have been shaved, but are not as drivable as those at Laguna Seca. The braking zones are improved, especially into T10 and T14. The new asphalt caused allot of understeer that I had to make a big front sway bar change to counteract. I didn't have a chance to go for a fast lap as my right rear axcel broke. The car is now at JWE getting fixed. That's another story best told over beers.

you dont say.
new hoosiers 12 HC corded.
R888 2 sets: 2.5 day per set.

to be fair, alignment was off

latest hoosier had 15 HC still good.

i did 201 in 996gt3 on R888. previous best was 2:03 i think.
did many 202 on R888.
these times were right after the track was paved.

i was slightly slower than above numbers yesterday.
that's me being slow, not the track's doing.

yes, on 996, full soft front and full stiff rear bar.
then moved to one from full stiff front and full soft rear

on 7gt3, one from full soft frond, middle (only 3 holes) rear bar

Me too... I have not raced at Thunderhill since 2002 with POC and I ran a 1:49 over the nest. That track is sooo much fun to drive.
