Default need help

I have a club 76 RSR clone which has a 3.6 motor and 915 transmission with WEVO shifter. Car pops out of 3rd gear w/ minimal accleration. I have replaced syncros in both 3rd and 4th gear as well as attempted to adjust shifting linkage. (work done by porsche garage). All have had little success. Any ideas how to proceed with diagnosis would be greatly appreciated

I would post this on the 911 Board. There are a lot more technical discussions going on. Plus, a few guys there (e.g. Zimmerman) know the 915 inside and out.

Where are you located? Who has done the work on the transmission/car? Are you a PCA member, and have you taken advantage of PCA resources? I have a car that runs a 3.8 liter motor and a 915. Many of my racing buddies have 3.2 - 4 liter motors and are running 915's. I live near WEVO, Guard Tramsission and Smartracing Products/Jerry Woods Enterprises, and have access to numerous experts with vast experience in pro racing. What resources do you have?

I have had some strange 915 problems, and worked through them with help from a few key folks like Paul Guard and WEVO. In my case, I eventually found a part that was damaged in a subtle way that changed clearances by 35 thou or so-- very subtle in many respects.

You might want to provide many more specifics, and cross post on the Pelican Parts AX and racing forum.... there are some knowledgeable people there. Best is always a local resource with PCA reputation and racing pedigree.

I had the same issue (poping out of third. It was a shaft with a slider on it that had wear. That was replaced and solved the problem but the old gear set was put back in after visual inspection. A couple of months later broke teeth off third gear and had to do trans rebuild a 2nd time.

Thanks Mike...located in upstate NY. The work has been pereformed by Quality Foreign Car Care which has experience w/ Porsche. My fear is no experience with my set up. I'm a member of the Zone 1 PCA club...I will work with those resources as well.

AH... upstate NY...

I would use the PCA network and find someone as close as possible with racing experience, or at minimum experience supporting track-driven cars.

I am having second and third gear repaired in my 3.6L/915 combo right now. I also have the WEVO shifter and my shop is speculating a bit that the shifter my allow the sliders to slide too far, beyond the spec range of motion. Not that this is NOT confirmed, just something he was going to test.
