Default Noise Limits

I was excited to do the Road America club race this year as work schedule, family committments, and transportation fell into place nicely. However, when I read that the noise limit was 103db, down from 108db last year I decided not to go since I assumed my car was in the 105-108db range. I ended up purchasing a sound level meter and going to Watkins Glen for some testing and here is what I found:

My 964RSR - 104.8db
993GT2 - 95db
996Cup - 98db
964 prepared w/ headers/ dual outlet no mufflers 104.1db

The readings were consistent and measured standing on the pit wall (about 50 feet from the car). I realize the placement, weather conditions, time of year, person taking the readings, etc. can make a difference but does anyone else have any data that can be compared against mine?

My car - headers and twin Phase 9 mufflers - is about 98 db. If I use an early 911 "banana" style muffler instead of the Phase 9's it's down below the 92 db limit at Laguna Seca. (Also measured about 50 feet away at a spot where you are at WOT.)

I had a few beers with the SCCA worker that was working sound. At the end of the first day (test & tune), only one car in the DE was over 100 db, the Carrera GT with sport exhaust. None of the club racers were over 103.9 (still considered 103). Mostly done to keep neighbors content.
