Don't get started in the cost issue...
You'll get the same answer every time: "How much is your head/brain/life worth?"
FYI - the $180 RCi helmets meet the same safety critera as the $900 Arais.

Many helmets DO have a SIGNIFICANT markup with NO EXTRA SAFETY.

Paying extra does NOT mean more safety.

Cost doesn't make it cool but the Stand 21 I have is outstanding and I like the visor setup. Great fit and quality but pricey at around $1200. They are semi custom fit to your melon.

Correct, what your paying for is better weight design (ie. less weight and lower center of gravity), better ventilation and better fit (in some cases).

Also is there something better out there at 760 US? Primaliarly looking for lightness.
Thanks
I have the GP-5 and it fits great. However the inside tore apart in several areas. I called ARAI, then said send it to them so they can look at it (helmet is 3 years old)
the completely replace the interior as new and sent it back at no charge.

Great helmet, great company.

Default Arai GP5

I also have the GP5 and will tell you that within 5-10 times wearing it, I noticed the fabric deteriorating. It just got worse over time. The good news is that Aria replaced it at no cost. Just an inconvenience. Other than the fabric, I love the helmet it the fit is perfect.

I have an Arai GP5K and love it - used to have a Bell M2 but changed. I had the luxury of trying on various helmets that we stock and the Arai fit best for me. Once a customer buys an Arai, they rarely switch to another brand for their next helmet from my experience.

Arai had a batch of helmets with defective liners but they have replaced them at no charge. Some may still be in circulation. The customers just had to get an RMA from the dealer and ship it back to arai for the repair.

I agree, it's not at all about the cost. I believe all the major manufacturers make equally safe helmets.
It's about fit. Not just comfort, but the proper fit.

The point of saying "How much is your brain worth?" is not to make fit sacrifices just to save money. Just but the helmet that fits the snuggest through the entire helmet. Also consider visual fields.

When I went to upgrade from a G-Force i had my heart set on an Arai, but my head was right in-between sizes. Floating in one and could not get the smaller size on my head. I ended up buying a Bell M3 (from Apex; great service), because it fit just right, and I am very happy with it. Each manufacturer's idea of S-M-L is definitely different.
