After a full year of DEing.......

He just made it in the "Temple of Black"........
I personally like to be the king of White.....(especially when Gary R. doesn't get demoted to my run group).....
Green to Black promotion I guess varies from a few months to never.......it depends how fast (on the matter) your region is.....

I don't know how UCR runs at Calabogie. A bunch of Rennsport instructors will be there along with some Rennsport members. As a whole I think we're faster than last year at Calabogie. I know I'm a lot faster now that I've gotten comfortable with the car.
MPSCs work pretty well when it's damp or light rain at Calabogie. Dunlop racing rain slicks are the cat's *** though. It rained almost every day up here in June which is highly unusual. Be prepared to drive in the rain. It can be fun with the right equipment.

Alan Herod from the Potomac Chapter posted this recently. He is one of the CI's:
Not all DE groups are the same and I pulled together data from our last year's VIR event to answer some questions about run group placement -- We have five run groups; Green (Instructed - Beginners); Blue (Instructed - Novice); White (Intermediate); Black (Advanced-Instructor); Red (same as Black - faster cars and/or more experience). The call for participants is basically White through Red run groups. Club Racers participants can be found in White through Red and clearly the number of days is not a requirement for progression through to White, many exceptional drivers have moved through the ranks with minimum time in each group. It is generally not the case. In the data I provided I dropped the high and the low numbers to arrive at the range.
By run group and number of track days (average) range
Green - 16 days - range 1 to 50 (largest concentration 8 - 25)
Blue - 32 days - range 12 to 81 (largest concentration 29 - 36)
White - 61 days - range 24 to 132 (largest concentration 36 - 69, some cup cars)
Black - 110 days - range 42 to 275 (largest concentration 77 - 160, several cup cars)
Red - 215 days - range 75 to 1006 (cup cars. GT3s, GT2s, and my moving chicane car)

At best I think you're third, behind Potomac and NNJR. I think Golden Gate or one of those CA regions is pretty large. Metro is also big, which puts three of the top largest PCA regions in the NY Tri State area. I've always said this area is one of the most densely Porsche populated places on the planet...
Charlie just saved me from having to flop the old Potomac out on the bar and have everyone step back in awe and amazement. Its definitely large.
There is a fair bit of variation across regions, and lots of factors in play.
- Regions that have a long history of club racing, and a good number of current and ex racers in the instructor corps are likely to be quicker.
- Obviously, a large DE program with 20+ track days per season helps.
- While it might have been true once, the equipment issue seems to be less of a factor these days. Cuppies and similar fast rides are one thing, but has anyone counted the number of GT3s in instructed run groups these days?
- Its a far more noble thing to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow.
OK, that should kick it to the six. If not, I'll warm up another insight or two.
