Have 235's currently on 8" rims at the front.
Has anyone run a 245/40 R spec on the 8" front wheel ?
Little too much overhang on the wheel??
Tight fit in the wheel well with 2.8 camber.
Thanks
Rick

From what I have been told and from what I see on many other races cars is you want to stretch the side wall and have the widest rim possible for the tire you want to run. I run 245/40/18 on a 9" wide wheel and 305/35/18 on a 12" wide wheel.
Anyone else???

Mike,
Thanks, I agree with that method 100%. I think the wheel should always be wider than the tire, maybe not to the exteme the 80's F1 cars went but certainly a bit of triangulation from the wheel to the tread.
But my wheel size is fixed and without going overboard I would like to squeeze a bit more tire in the front but only if practical, otherwise will stay with the 235's.

I run a 245 on an 8" wheel. I was told this would be OK, but don't go further. In the past, the factory installed 255's on 8" wheels (964 I think) where the wheel width was mandated for a race series.

I'm running 245's NT01's on 8". I can now let the tire/wheel lay face down w/o hitting the wheel face using std Turbo Twists. Was concerned, but handling is quite crisp. Wouldn't go any more. Too soon to tell on wear.

Thank you everyone for your input.
Dan thanks for the specifics. I know just the "clunk" you are talking about with the twists hitting solid.
