I also note that my PCA Club Racing Newsletter indicates that Hoosier is a PCA Club Racing "sponsor". Anyone know what that means?

Chris that should be a slam dunk unless PCA objects. The Toyo bucks program is a great incentive in our POC Spec Boxster series and also in our Spec 944series. With 5 or more starters in a race you get $150. for first. $100. for second, $75., $ 50., etc. It makes the already affordable cost of racing a Spec Boxster even more so, well as long as you're seeing the podium occasionally.....

One more thing. Typically, tire contingencies in other orgs are for classes where there is a specified tire. PCA does not specify a tire for any class, except for the adopted classes like SP1/2. I would guess that if any tire company wanted to give away tires, that would be fine. But if the company wanted to be declared the only tire in return, it would not. I'm not sure what Hoosier would get out of giving away tires for nothing, as they are the defacto tire anyway and people will buy them regardless.

Colin, surprisingly the Hoosier contingency at NASA does not require a spec tire in class. Hoosier only requires signing a form, buying from a listed dealer, stickers, and of course running their tires to the finish line. I think 3 cars must start in the class.

Yep this is correct. People run whatever tire they want in most NASA classes (like PCA).

If that turns out to be the case, perhaps we should hit up BFG for a PCA tire contingency. If half the field were running BFG tires I bet Hoosier would be happy to offer a contingency

Looks like Hankook is already an option in PCA club racing... see above.

SCCA had contingency sponsors for years, and maybe still does. Of course, that applied to tires for classes without spec tires. The "gentlemen racers" excuse is a laugher!

I guess I would question why PCA would have to approve it? I would think they could do it if they wanted. What could PCA do, outlaw Hoosier tires?

In addition to CDOC, FVD runs contingency programs with PCA, so contingency programs aren't anything new for PCA. Why there isn't a tire one, who knows. Maybe Dunlop will play...
