This was precisely the cause of such debate. My stance was it didn't matter, others weren't quite so convinced. I do believe warping was the primary focus on why flat storage was deemed appropriate rather than on end.

Just figured I'd ask the masses to determine the debate-able-ness of said topic.

Its the same reason you store crankshafts vertical. They can move around.

What ever you do , do'nt do what I did. I stored them up side down and then when i tried to use them they only stopped the car in reverse.

Rotor may refer to:

In engineering:

Helicopter rotor, the rotary wing(s) of a rotorcraft such as a helicopter.

Must store vertically since they spend useful life horizontally

Rotor (electric), the non-stationary part of an alternator or electric motor, operating with a stationary element called the stator.

Always horizontal sice useful life is vertical...

ROTOR, a former radar project in the UK following the Second World War

Not sure...

Rotor (turbine), the rotor of a turbine powered by fluid pressure

make sure to idle prior to storage to prevent coking...

Rotor (brake), the disc of a disc brake, in U.S. terminology

store vertically so that when You bump it it slams down on Your toes...]

Rotor (distributor), a component of the ignition system of an internal combustion engine

Can be stored either way but must be rotated opposite of its use cycle during storage...

Rotor (engine), the rotary piston in a rotary combustion engine

Store next to the Daytona 24 hour GT championship trophy...

Rotor (antenna), an electric motor that rotates an antenna to the direction of transmission or reception

Store pointed away from largest area radio station...

Rotor (magazine), a US magazine covering the civil helicopter industry

Store near restroom at hanger...

In computing:

Rotor machine, the rotating wheels used in certain cipher machines, such as the German Enigma machine

Store in British Submarines

Rotor (software project), the former code name for Microsoft's shared source implementation of its Common Language Infrastructure

Store in the archive, replace any in use currently with Google or Mac alternatives...

If we rotate wheels/tires, why don't we rotate rotors? And would that be "to rotortate" as a verb, and "rotortation" as a noun?

Spray them with WD 40 and throw them in a big box with a thousand other parts, slide next to 4 other big boxes under work bench and forget where they are in a week.

"Store flat" refers to PSI. Never leave your rotors pressurized or you they will form rows of little holes that lead to cracking. Go check yours, I'll wait......
