I'm glad that he is ok. That was a classic case of holding the correction too long. The car had stopped it's rotation and was already swinging back towards the left and he still had the wheels in a countersteering position. Little wonder it snapped left and pointed itself right into the wall. Yeah, and I was thinking about Earnhardt too.

It's the new wing. It seems to produce more downforce and stability, and where the car used to just come around, it now is catchable, but you would have to be very quick. I saw at least 4 incidents at the Daytona 500 where the drivers caught the car when the back end slid instead of it just spinning out.

It looked like he had the rear sliding very early in that corner, then probably lifted hard pushing the weight up front with the steering in a over-corrected position. Quick hook up and wham. Scary to watch how fast it can happen. That new car looks twichy compared with the old one.

That's a true testiment to the design of safety put into the track safer barrier, the safety equipment for the driver, and truly speaks to the safety engineered into the car of tomorrow...
This is rather timely since my shop mechanic just sent me a long note questioning my safety in a car that doesn't have a full cage, fire system, or fuel cell, with the power to overcome the 999 PP/GT3RSR Ceramic puck clutch...
