I have 2 of those for sale used. $150.00 each, they come with 12V plug-ins.
I also have 2 of the AMB 260 transponders, complete with clips, 12V and 110V chargers, also $150.00 each:

Going on E-bay sometime next week when I have time to do it.

The AMB display system only works if track AMB decoder has been upgraded to accomodate the display software and hardware. It also only works when the AMB system is actually up and running.
Very few Timing and Scoring crews want to screw with the additional crap necessary for this. That's why you see these things on ebay...because they're "ballast" in the car. Don't work. Nada. Squandool. Just riding around.
Go talk to the T & S folks next time you're at a race weekend...ask them if they're running it...or if they know of any T & S crews anywhere who are running it.
Buy one at your own risk. IMO, just wasted money.

I would not exactly call it ballast....
But the prof is right, the track or organization needs an updated AMB decoder.
PBOC and Nasa in Florida have them at Homestead, Moroso and Sebring, I think by now most do, but I have not been everywhere....
This is the list of clubs and organizations where it does work:

It works fine and easy for me, me and my brother are just not running NASA TimeTrial anymore and selling the cars, saving up our pennies for the GT3

The advantage of the DisplayIT is you get to see the same times as off the loop. DAS times, based on where you put the beacon, can be a tenth or 2 off, which can be the difference sometimes. I hate to come in mid qual thinking I had run one time, when in fact it was something slower.
