Default PSS9 settings for the track

Who has PSS9's and what do you set them at for the track? Yes, I could hit search, but I want to pick the brain of someone with experience. Thanks.

What springs? I had upgraded springs and I left mine on full hard all the time unless wet. I found they did not have all that much adjustment for me anyway. Full soft was not going to work with my springs though.

I have the springs that came with the set I bought from Viper Bob. Sorry, I'm new at this and can't give you any more info than that.

On 993, it's full stiff (1/1) all around. Probably the same as 996.

Larry, the best place to set PSS9s is here:

and get a real shock for the track.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I respectfully disagree with full stiff both front and rear. I found full stiff up front was too bouncy and 3 click off full firm up front and full firm in the rear worked better for me.

Larry is suggesting that they are too soft and not very adjustable and there are other options that would have been a better choice. However, you may as well use what you have and "try" to enjoy it.

I agree with Tom that you can runs the rears on full stiff, but the front end of the TT series cars will push on that setting. I wold start in the middle up front and and see how the car feels. Do you have adjustable sway bars and if so where do you have them set? It's a combination of both that will ultimately get you where you're comfortable....

I would think it would really depend on the surface of the track. Correct?

Larry, ViperBob knows his stuff and knows a lot of track so right now he might be your best source of info until you get to the track and try out some different settings.

Maybe Bob can chime in here with an explaination of exactly how the adjuster on the PSS9 affects the shock settings. Is it like to old Koni shocks where the adjustment only affected the rebound, or does it affect compression & rebound equally? That can help understand where to set them also.

One of my sons has a PSS9 package with stiffer springs on his 993 and it seems to work ok on full stiff for most tracks, and he softens it up for the street. I really haven't spent much time on it, and as a whole it all feels too soft for me.

I agree with above. I've tried full soft on both ends and at Homestead it's ok but better with 3 or 2 F & 1 or 2 R. At Sebring I have 3 F & 1 R. It depens also what tyres you have, with smaller tyres I run 3 F & 2 R.

Thay don't make much difference IMO though, I was used to Morocross bike adjustments where there is a noticeable difference on just on click but with PSS-9 it's not that way. And of course since you can adjust rebound & damping individually it's not that great.

With that said...

Larry,

As I mentioned, try a medium setting like 4/4. Since you're a green student, who's just learning to feel the car and the track, keep it forgiving yet controlled.

Regardless of what everyone says here, maybe you should go out to the track and do one session full hard f&r and then the next full soft f&r and then switch them up using the extreme settings. Keep notes of how the car feels. Keep lap times. Check and record your tire pressures. Once you do this, you should have some knowlege of what the adjustments will do with the car. Then you can start dialing in the settings. I have had two sets of PSS9's and can attest that they should have only put about 3 or 4 settings on the dial as that's about all the noticable adjustment you have.

That's good advice for a green student.

After a while you'll likely find the car too bouncy on 4/4. I once forgot to set my shocks and went out on 6/6 and by the second corner I was freaked, thinking something was totally wrong with my car. It was just bouncing all over. Ok for a green student at slower speeds, but was very unsettling for me.
