ltc, I've calc'd that if we do all the karting days we can make given today's known schedule, we'll be putting another 6100 miles on the Excursion this season JUST FOR KARTING. You must put on even more... Add that to the mileage for towing to Sebring, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, Road America, to name most of the races I plan to do and the truck racks up the mileage. Let's hope diesel doesn't hit $4/gallon consistently (saw it for $4.09 around here recently - doh!).

Thumbs up F350 Tow Vehicle

2004 F350, FX4 4x4, Long Bed, Crew Cab. Tows great. We had a 1995 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins before this one, with a kid on the way (due in three days!) we figured the Crew Cab was required. Overall we like the Dodge a little better, but we think that is because we owned it first. Our only real complaint about the Ford is parking it. With the crew cab and the long bed it is longer than a standard parking slot.

Don't get me started!

I paid $3.999 comming back from Summit Point 2 weeks ago. Dropped a C note and it didn't even fill the dam tank !!

With 5 pieces of construction equipment all running on diesel trust me you don't want to see my monthly diesel bill!

2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ with autoride air suspension... towing 996 GT3 on a dual axle, tilt bed, mostly steel trailer with a wood deck.

Truck tows just fine... I've pulled this set-up with a 2002 F150 and would say the F150 does a better job. But power, torque, pulling power between tahoe and 150 is same but STABILITY is better in the 150, prob due to longer wheel base. For example: When using the F150, I can pull the GT3 with *** hanging off the end (no need to back the car on the trailer). But when I use the tahoe, I have to back the GT3 onto the trailer otherwise the rear weight bias of the 911 causes too light of a tongue weight for the Tahoe to handle. Talk about dog wagging tail!! Scary stuff.....

Overall these new body style full size chev suv's do a decent job of towing, I'm happy with it so long as the 911 is backed on the trailer. I use a prodigy elec brake controller as well.

Nothing less than a 3/4 ton Pickup or SUV, pick your favorite brand. Preferably Diesel. You're ok with 1/2 ton rigs until the **** hits the fan and then your're screwed. Anyone towing with one of those small, car chassis SUV's is really flirting with disaster.

2006 F-250 Powerstroke crew cab with a 24 foot tag ATC enclosed trailer. I really recommend the Equilizer hitch as well. It made a world of a difference. I can barely tell the trailer is back there !

Tow now with a '08 PSD F250- pulls like a dream and very comfortable- mileage could be better with all the new diesel emissions crap but otherwise a great truck. Love our V-nose ATC aluminum trailer.

Used to tow with a Cayenne S- actually did pretty well considering the size of the trailer but it was a compromise especially with the standard mirrors- never had any idea if someone was right behind us.

What does your 24ft ATC weigh ? (weight before car tires tools) Iam picking up a new 24 ATC and have been told two different weights 3200 and 4000 with cabinets ,awning ect . I didn't get the V nose I may regret it. Towing with 08 Sequoia with sway control and weight bearing hitch.

Well, she isn't exactly a looker, but it's comfortable to drive (except for the manual steering and 4 spd manual, non-syncro tranny). She's a 1964 GM PD4106. Gets 8 mpg while towing at 65-70 mph.

2008 F350 FX4 Supercab shortbed. Just got it a couple of weeks ago, so have not towed with it yet. Prior to this, I've towed with a 2005 Volvo XC90 V8, 2004 Cayenne S, and a 1997 Explorer V8...all were fine to tow an open trailex and a 3100lb car.
