At the race I bumped into one of the Lizard tech guys. They were amazed because after the 46 car lost its rear bumper they said it was a 1/2 second faster than it was before. The Lizard cars with full Aero were at best 8/10ths slower than the Risi Ferrari. I hope that more time with the car can close the gap.
Given the way the race played out, I'm not sure any conclusions can be drawn from fastest race laps. The Ferrari's fastest lap was in lap 4, before traffic became a factor (and while Henzler was stuck behind the lead Tafel Ferrari). Then, for half the race, #45 was simply managing its significant lead. In qualifying, #46 (Lietz) was 0.3 off #62, and #45 (Bergmeister) was 0.4 off #62, and Bergmeister's two best flyers were slowed by traffic. That's probably a better gauge of outright pace.

Given everything I saw at Sebring, I suspect the Risi Ferrari will still be a bit faster than the Porsches, although it's clear that Porsche has made huge strides with the 2008 updates. Now, we'll wait and see what (if any) parts Ferrari have been sitting on the shelf, waiting for the Porsche to catch up.

The amazing thing is that last years car did a best race lap of 2.02.723. - Almost identical to this year's best lap by a RSR.
So they may have looked quicker, but it did not translate into lap times,,,at least not at Sebring.

This is another example of where race laptimes don't tell an entirely representative story of cars' capabilities. If 2007 race laptimes were indicative of capabilities, then the conclusion would be that the 2007 RSR was superior to the 2007 430, since the Risi car was a few hundredths off the Tafel Porsche's best time. While race laptimes are interesting to discuss, additional data points are useful.
