I bought nomex socks at Jegs in pinch and they are not labeled. At tech they just looked at them and could tell they weere nomex so they did not ask to see a tag. Maybe I was lucky?

Yeah I just got a call back from Pegasus ... and they said the Nomex socks they have had no label as well. My socks dont even say Carbonx on them .. they just feel like cotton socks that are black .. at least nomex feels like nomex.

The PCA rules say that "Fire Retardant socks and gloves are required". It does not specify what they are made of, nor that they need to be certified.

Goeffrey my carbonx socks are black tube socks with no label. I guess my point is that there is no way of knowing or proving to you that they are fire retardant. They do not have a carbonx label on them like the underwear does.

I would not worry about it, I think if you state that they are CarbonX you will be fine. In five years of racing no one has ever asked me about my socks.

not that it would ever come to this but fundamentally speaking isn't the burden on the scrut's to prove whether or not they meet the rules? If the rules don't specify a standard and/or labeling then if they want to challenge your honesty then they will have to find evidence of such. They'll never say without evidence or a standard to fall back on, "I don't believe you" and then DQ you.

None of the organizations that I quickly checked required certification on the underwear.
PCA, POC, PBOC, SCCA, Midwest Council and NASA just recommend underwear that is fire retardant on suits that are 3.2/5 or FIA certified. If the suit is 3.2/1 the underwear is required but never do they mention a requirement for the underwear. Only NASA mentions the standard and it's only a recommendation.
