Agree with above - keep the horn. Should be a small matter to add a button to the dash, within easy reach. Navigating around the paddock - you want to be sure that people backing onto access roads are paying attention. Worth it to avoid contact or even near misses.

My track car often blows the horn fuse....

YES, you need a horn for pit lane, & paddock. a button on the dash is fine.

Hey;

I like having a horn. Paddock stuff as mentioned, and it will happen to you eventually. Just getting someone's attention in pit lane or paddock when you are strapped in is worth having it.

I always like to acknowldege a timely pass well given. Ususally this is accomplished by a freindly wave. Some will scoff at this, but in some situations where waving out the window is not wise, I will toot the horn to say thanks.

I reject - in principle - the notion of pitting to notify the steward of a recalcitrant roadblock. That penalizes ME in run time lost when I did nothing wrong. Unfortunately, waking up flaggers to one of these "track boulders" is sometimes necessary.

Can you install the switch on the steering wheel? Seems it would be easier to find when needed.

I just ordered a car that comes with the Aim MyChron 3 XG at standard equipment. I am hoping that this wheel will be available by the time it is ready.
Gotta be able to use one of those buttons for a horn!

AFAIK that steering wheel only talks to the EVO3 data logger and not the XG Log.

The wheel is quite nice and fits me quite well. At some point I'll setup my car with one of those as a demo.

What kind of car??

I believe that they will allow me to upgrade ( Aim ) if I pay the difference. Do you recommend the Evo3 ? I'm new to D.A... Stohr WF1.

Haven't really used the EVO3 or really read up much on it. It's intent was for formula cars where room and space was at a premium so I've been told.

You could always buy a train horn and roll around like these assclowns:

I lost the horn when I went to a removable wheel (of course, I soon removed the horn anyway). As the car is driven to the track, there really are times when I've missed it. Then, there is always that pending conversation with the Trooper, "Where's your horn, boy?"

On my son's 993, we put a small button on the dash, right next to the steering wheel. Problem solved.
