DE tire excessive edge wear question

I've found the pfront outside wear is pretty much always there for me in the 911's mostly due to turn 2. I spend so much time leaning on that corner of the car for 40 to 60 laps on a typical day.
For pressures I try to get to around 38 hot all around and that means I'll try to start with the pfront a couple of lbs lower that the dfront going out.
I don't think going for a higher pressure is going to help and may get you pushing earlier.

I ran PS2s with 34 front hot 36 rear hot and usually gain about 8 - 10 pounds of presure from cold.
The first post after your question was right. Your tires are chunked not worn. This is the time to move to an R compound that can take the heat you are dishing out. Cups will be good for 3-5 days on the track but if want to use them to the bitter end, (Corded) then you might get 8- 10 days out of them.
Do not expect them to have any stick after 5 track days though.

KW I would also strongly consider if you are shopping around for suspension your namesake. That is the German brand KW. These are perfect for what you want. You instantly pick up time at the track but you don't compromise your street comfort level. They are fantastic for this.

This looks like typical hard wear for the PS2 -- and something Michelin designed the tire to do. Michelin designed the outside sidewalls of these tires to roll over a bit to increase the size of the contact patch under hard cornering. Increasing your air pressure or adding negative camber won't help much unless you start going to extremes.
This is a street tire and optimized for street driving where hard cornering is not an everyday, every turn experience and the design works well in that application. But as a track tire, you'll shred them in a weekend. Best compromise is a second set of wheels with tires for the track (R-comp or not, your decision). At least then if you shred 'em at the track, you don't have to buy new tires *right now*.

Since this thread is pretty much dead, I'll post my somewhat similar problem. Tire shown is left rear. Excessive wear is on the inside. Tread wear is quite good except that last 1/2" were there is excessive wear. Tire has tread 3/4 of the way around the tire and through the cords (with a hole) the last 1/4. Tires have 3500 miles and 3 track days. The other 3 tires have more than half tread life remaining and no strange patterns. I presume this is some combination of poor camber/toe. Could anyone elaborate?

Wow.
Are these the pictures of the same tire?
Did this tire look normal after 2 track days and all happen on the 3rd, or was it getting a little worse in the same area after each day?

All pictures are of the same tire. I didn't really look over the tire that closely after the last track weekend, which was back in July, so I'm not sure when the damage happened. As you can see, the tire is worn quite evenly except the last inch or so. My wife did spin at the track, but didn't hit anything. I'll get the car aligned once I get new tires. Unfortunately, these are Dunlop Super Sport Race which aren't made anymore so I need to buy atleast two new tires, four if I drive it again at the track.

techno99: Exact same thing happened to one of my friends with his E46 M3 on Dunlop Super Sport Race tires. The photo below is of his tire; it blew out with a bang on the front straight of Sebring, was pretty dramatic. If you like, I can forward him this thread so he can shed some light on the situation.
