I love the Nittos. They lasted a long time and seemed to get faster and faster until I corded them. I'm on a new set of R888's now. Too early to tell if I'll like them better than Nittos.

My experience:
I haven't run R888, but if they are better than RA-1, I would try those for longevity and progressiveness (if that is a word).
I have been through 2 sets of hoosier R-6s and both sets were heat cycled out at HC #16.,,,and I don't mind being slower on HC 16+, but to me on HC 16 there is a huge difference and they are fried and will give up w/o warning. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ht=tires+toast
I am trying BFG R-1's and am now on HC 15 and hoping they will slow fade away to about 30 HCs. I think this is what Eric Wong got in his M3 from what I read.
RA-1s were good for 28 HCs and they were heat cycled out for me, just like the R6s on HC 16. This happend on 3 sets in a row. I am in the minority that say Toyos aren't good to the cords.
I will update on the BFGs...I will stay w/ them if I can get 30 HCs....even if they are much slower....as long as they don't snap like the R6s I am fine w/ them being slower in DE. IF I can get 28-30 HCs on BFGs and the same on Toyos, I will stay w/ the BFGs. I really like them so far.
A wise man once told me that every heat cycle is created different.....a good club racer in longer races will get few HCs than the average DE driver in white etc. He said to think of it as a glass of water, some gulps are bigger than others. That and driving styles and weight of the car will make a big difference.

If by East Bay you mean SF Bay Area, AIM Tire at Infineon carries them, competitive pricing.
