I watch the video closely and I have this take.

If you know the cup is going to lose it on the exit of the corner you can make the case that there was time to move out of the way. That is the situation with watching the video. We all know what is coming and then it can seem it it took ages for the 993 driver to pull out of line.

However.... in real time the situation changes. You are chasing that cup car and know you need to get a good exit here to try to hold him off at least a little bit. The cup driver is slower in the corners and it is painfully clear. In some sense you only hope is a wiggle by the cup driver on the way out so that you can get a run going. The trick is to be close enough to take advantatge of a wiggle, but not becaught up in anything. In this case you see the wiggle and the 993 driver waited 1 fraction of a second to see if it was just a little wiggle or a real off. Then the cup car seems to catch it yet fails to accelerate and then bang... Impact.

So if you knew the cup car was going to go dead in the water there would have been time after the bobble to do something. It WOULD have killed all momentum from the 993 driver and would have been an overreaction if the cup wiggled and nothing more. Since it was not possible to know what that little wiggle may have done Chris stated on the power (also imporant to keeping his car stable) and had no place to go. Tough break really.
