I'm looking at getting one for my brother for x-mas. The only one with good reviews is the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel for $130.

Ok, it looks like rFactor is going to be "it" and the Porsche Carerra Cup 07 mod will be the cars we will be running. rFactor must be updated to the latest version (1255) to be compatible online.
What you will need to run
rFactor sim for download - http://www.rfactor.net/index.php?page=buyonline
IF you are unsure of your computers ability to run this, read the requirements on site and TRY it out before buying it or going any further. If you have onboard graphics, a sub-2Gz CPU, or less than 1GB of memory on your system there's a good chance it won't run (fast framerates) well enough to use.. A good test is in traffic with 20 cars...

I am getting a new computer this week as it turns out. I don't have a wheel yet but I will try to get one and get up to speed (pun intended) in time to do it. It is as close as I can get to seat time until March it looks like right now.

Get the Logitech G25 racing wheel.

Gary,
What day/time are you going to run the league? How big is the server? We tend to run into bandwidth issues after the size gets above 25 drivers.
You all can have custom skins if you want to paint your own car too. Takes a little coordination but it's pretty easy to paint the cars.

All - The times and days are yet to be worked out and we will try and make it convenient for the majority. I'm loading it on a dedicated machine now but it may be low on "ability" to host so I may quickly toss together a better machine just for hosting. First let me get this set up, see if I can connect to it, then i'll give out the pword and server name for initial testing.

Server is up for trial - Its Called Rennlist Porsche Cup and is running Porsche Mobil One Supercup - track is "12 Hours of Sebring"..

I'm in! That is if I can get it to work at all. I figured out the 1255 update and now it's late so tomorrow I'll try the other two things I have to download, the cars and track I think. Not real good at the 'puter thing.

I tried connecting a couple of times but it keeps kicking me out, first time it starts loading then kicks me out then when I try reconnecting I get "Connection Lost" right away.
I've got V1255, the Porsche Carerra Cup 07 cars and the Sebring track. Any ideas?

OK, reset the server and dumped the modified "Bleekemolen Team" and put the original back. I connect fine and also connect to any other open server w/o issue. Be sure to use a car supplied by the mod (no new paint job) and if you can't get into my race try another open server with the Mobil 1 SuperCup and a track you have loaded..
